Position: Manager – Climate and Environmental Risk

Reports To: Chief Business Officer – Infrastructure Finance Division

Job Purpose:

The Climate & Environmental Risk Manager will serve as a subject-matter expert within the Infrastructure Finance Division, supporting project appraisal by identifying potential physical, environmental, and regulatory risks. The role will ensure that such risks are adequately assessed not only during the appraisal phase but also throughout the life of the loan, with appropriate mitigants, covenants, and structuring measures recommended to safeguard the Bank’s interests. In addition to supporting other Business Divisions as required, the role will also contribute to the development of Bank-wide policies, practices, and strategies related to climate and environmental risk in lending.

Key Requirements:

  • Identify and assess climate and environmental risks associated with lending projects.
  • Advise business teams on appropriate structuring measures, covenants, and risk mitigations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align risk assessment with regulatory expectations and internal frameworks.
  • Support knowledge sharing and provide guidance on sector-specific environmental considerations.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, tools, and practices related to climate and environmental risk in lending.

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in Infrastructure Finance, Project Appraisal, Environmental Advisory, or Climate Risk Assessment, ideally in a financial or consulting environment.
  • Strong and demonstrated understanding of climate and environmental risk concepts, and familiarity with relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to interpret technical project reports and assess potential implications for lending.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
