Position: Communications Coordinator
Location: Bakhundole, Lalitpur, Nepal
Working Hours: 40 Hours/Week – Full Time

Women LEAD Nepal is looking for a creative, organized, and detailed-oriented individual who has a strong interest in women’s rights to lead the Communications Team as their Communications Coordinator. S/he will assist the Communications Team with the development and creation of creative content for Women LEAD’s digital communication efforts, including graphics, videos, photos, stories, case-studies, newsbytes and other multimedia projects.
The Communication Team is dedicated to communicating the impact of Women LEAD’s programs. As a small, dynamic group of storytellers, we use different platforms such as writing, photography, video, and design to amplify the voices of our program participants and explain the importance of our work. The Communications Coordinator will join the team at a critical time of program expansion where they will be tasked with the strategic planning of organizational communications. The position will require management, strategic and implementation skills around digital storytelling and dissemination.
Women LEAD Nepal is one the first development organizations for young women in Nepal. DUTIES OF THE COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR:
Communications Content and Digital Production
- Work with program staff to obtain and disseminate programmatic information and qualitative evidence about the impact of Women LEAD’s activities and programs.
- Coordinate the collection of communication content by the comms team.
- Maintain and improve existing archiving systems such as photo and video archives.
- Review & update overarching comms strategy and an action plan with organizational targets on a periodic basis. Create, discuss and evaluate monthly goals with the Communications Team.
- Coordinate monthly content calendar and communications schedule.
- Find new ways to engage our community of 15,000+ supporters to enhance our brand, increase visibility and fundraising, and deepen relationships and engagementwith key audiences.
- Increase both the number of members and levels and quality of engagement of our online community.
- Write and edit blog posts for Women LEAD’s blog.
- Contribute to the existing bloggers’ program, which gathers LEADers, Fellows and program alumni for yearly writing workshops giving them one-on-one writing assistance for articles and blog posts on issues they are passionate about.
- Conduct regular website maintenance and update content (with a 72 hour turnaround), including identifying content needs and generating compelling stories of our work and impact to ensure it is always current and portrays a comprehensive picture of what Women LEAD is achieving in Nepal.
- Liaise with our Website Developer for website edits and changes as-needed.
- Provide photos, interviews, quotes to WLEAD staff & board within 24 hours as-
needed. - Identify and connect with international print and electronic media; develop and maintain professional contacts and relationships with journalists and leading bloggers to ensure WLEAD is featured and mentioned in national media outlets.
- Monitor and manage WLEADs branding and reputation online, including tracking use of WLEAD’s name in the press and online.
- Supervise staff & interns as-needed.
- Conduct communications training for staff, Board and program participants.
- Analyze and use data from different channels such as Google Analytics, Adwords, and social media to strengthen our communications tactics.
- Develop periodic newsletters, case-studies and annual reports.
- Follow industry blogs & stay on top of best practices and new tools.
- Perform various types of job/activity as described in the job description.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s graduate, preferably in mass communication, journalism, communications, or any related field.
- A passion for creative storytelling and promoting women’s rights.
- Minimum of 2.5 years’ experience working in the Communications unit of NGO/INGO or development communications.
- Understanding and a passion for celebrating and constructing stories around women’s empowerment and growth.
- Must be meticulous and creative.
- Experience working with and managing a team of communications professionals.
- Strong inter-personal and intra-personal skills.
- Strong communications skills with experience communicating with external stakeholders.
- Must have excellent writing and grammar skills.
- Ability to work independently with supervision skills.
This is a full-time position with a minimum duration of 2 years.
