Position Overview

The E&I Shift Engineer will be responsible for the reliable functioning of electrical and instrumentation systems during the assigned shift. The role includes real-time monitoring, troubleshooting, shift-level maintenance, documentation, and coordination with production and mechanical teams to minimize downtime and support plant reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Shift Operations & Monitoring
    • Monitor E&I systems across Raw Mill, Kiln, Cooler, Coal Mill, Cement Mill, and utilities
    • Track DCS/PLC alarms, motor loads, power supply status, and field conditions
    • Conduct inspection rounds and identify abnormalities or potential risks
  2. Breakdown Handling & Troubleshooting
    • Attend breakdowns promptly and troubleshoot HT/LT motors, VFDs, MCC/PCC panels, soft starters, and protection systems
    • Diagnose transmitter, control valve, gas analyzer, weigh feeder, and instrumentation loop issues
    • Assist in resolving PLC/DCS I/O faults, logic deviations, and communication errors
  3. Maintenance Activities
    • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance as per schedule
    • Verify calibration and functionality of key process instruments for kiln, cooler, and mill operations
    • Support shutdown maintenance and ensure safe equipment restoration
  4. Safety & Standards Compliance
    • Strictly follow permit-to-work, LOTO, and electrical safety protocols
    • Inspect panels, cables, JB boxes, and instruments to ensure safety compliance
    • Adhere to plant SOPs and engineering standards at all times
  5. Coordination & Reporting
    • Coordinate with production, mechanical, utilities, and automation teams
    • Prepare accurate shift logs, breakdown reports, and handover notes
    • Escalate critical issues and contribute to root-cause analysis

Qualification & Experience

  • BE in Electrical Engineeringwith minimum 5 years of relevant experience
    OR
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering with minimum 7 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of cement plant E&I systems, safety practices, and troubleshooting
