Everest Bank Limited, a leading commercial bank having wide network of branches all over Nepal is seeking applications from qualified, energetic and self-motivated Nepalese citizens meeting following eligibility criteria for the position of Gold Tester

Position: Gold Tester (Contractual Basis)
Location: Valley Branches
Employment Type: Full-Time

Tenure: Yearly Contract on renewal basis based on performance

Primary Responsibility:

The Gold Tester will be responsible for assessing the purity and authenticity of gold and gold ornaments offered as collateral for gold loans, ensuring the bank’s interests are protected against fraud or valuation errors.

Key Responsibilities

The Key Responsibilities are exclusive but not limited to followings:

  • Conduct accurate, non-destructive testing of gold and gold ornaments using standard gold testing methods to determine purity, weight, and authenticity with absolute certainty.
  • Calculation of the Fair Market Value of the Gold as per the Bank’s guideline.
  • Identify and report counterfeit, gold-plated, gold-filled, and counterfeit items with absolute certainty.
  • Maintain precise records of tested gold, including weight, purity, and descriptions for loan processing and other reports.
  • Create a “Gold Pledge Record” for every customer, detailing item-wise breakdown, weight, purity, karat value, color, and distinct identifying marks. These records form the legal basis of the loan agreement with the customer.
  • Ensure safeguard of pledged items and maintain proper documentation.
  • Adhere to the bank’s code of conduct and all NRB regulatory guidelines during testing and storage.
  • Assist branch officers by communicating test results professionally, sticking strictly to technical facts, leaving all negotiations to the designated branch officials.
  • Any other work assigned by Reporting line/Head Office from time to time.

Selected candidates shall be trained as Management Trainees to be eventually appointed in the post of Junior Officer of the Bank. Shortlisted candidates shall be individually informed for written examination followed by Group Discussion and Interview.
