Posiiton: Psychological Counselor
Key Responsibilities
1. Individual Counseling
- Conduct confidential one-on-one counseling sessions for students experiencing emotional, behavioral, social, academic, or psychological challenges.
- Assist students in developing coping strategies, resilience, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills.
- Support students dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem concerns, relationship issues, adjustment difficulties, and identity-related challenges.
2. Group Counseling and Student Support Programs
- Design and facilitate group counseling sessions addressing common student concerns.
- Conduct psychoeducational programs focused on:
- Stress and anxiety management
- Study skills and time management
- Emotional intelligence
- Healthy relationships
- Bullying prevention
- Self-esteem and confidence building
3. Mental Health Awareness and Prevention
- Develop and implement preventive mental health initiatives across the school.
- Organize workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns for students, parents, and staff.
- Promote positive mental health practices and emotional well-being throughout the school community.
4. Crisis Intervention and Safeguarding
- Provide immediate support to students facing emotional crises, self-harm risks, suicidal ideation,
abuse, trauma, or other urgent concerns. - Coordinate with school leadership, parents, and external professionals when necessary.
- Follow established safeguarding, child protection, and crisis management procedures.
5. Consultation and Collaboration
- Provide guidance and consultation to teachers, Academic Coordinators, Grade Coordinators, and parents regarding students’ psychological and behavioral needs.
- Recommend appropriate intervention strategies and classroom accommodations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to support student welfare.
6. Assessment and Referral
- Conduct preliminary assessments to identify students requiring psychological support.
- Maintain referral networks with psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, and other mental health professionals.
- Monitor referred cases and coordinate follow-up support.
7. Documentation and Record Management
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and secure counseling records.
- Prepare periodic reports, case summaries, and intervention records while maintaining professional confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and ethical counseling standards.
8. Research and Professional Development
- Stay updated on current developments, research, and best practices in school counseling and child psychology.
- Recommend evidence-based interventions and programs to enhance student well-being.
- Participate in professional development activities and trainings.
9. Teamwork and Institutional Support
- Collaborate effectively with academic and administrative departments.
- Support school events, student welfare programs, and institutional initiatives when required.
- Maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders.
10. Professional Conduct and Discipline
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and ethical behavior at all times.
- Adhere to the school’s code of conduct, dress code, and workplace policies.
- Wear official identification during working hours.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, or a related field. Master’s Degree in a relevant field shall be preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant counseling experience, preferably in an educational institution.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent psychology.
- Knowledge of counseling theories and therapeutic approaches including CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Interventions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in English and Nepali communication.
