Posiiton: Canteen Incharge
Location: Imadol, Lalitpur

Major job roles

1. Daily Canteen Operations

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the canteen under the Operations Department.
  • Ensure food is prepared and served on time.
  • Monitor the overall functioning of the canteen during operating hours.
  • Ensure proper arrangement and cleanliness of the dining and kitchen areas.
  • Keep an actual record of the hot meals per day and manage the necessary amount of food accordingly.

2. Staff Supervision

  • Coordinate with the storekeeper, chefs, cooks, assistant cooks, helpers, waiters, and other canteen staff.
  • Allocate daily duties and ensure staff are present and performing their assigned responsibilities.
  • Monitor staff discipline, punctuality, and work performance.
  • Report staff-related issues to the Operations Manager when required.

3. Food Quality Control

  • Monitor the quality, freshness, taste, and presentation of food served.
  • Ensure food is prepared and served according to the organization’s required standards.
  • Report any food quality concerns to the Operations Manager and concerned kitchen staff.

4. Inventory and Stock Management

  • Monitor the availability of food ingredients, beverages, and other canteen supplies.
  • Maintain proper records of stock received and consumed.
  • Inform the concerned authority about items that need to be replenished.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of food items and supplies.

5. Food Safety and Hygiene

  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and serving practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, dining area, utensils, equipment, and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure staff follow required hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Immediately report any health, hygiene, or safety concerns to the Operations Manager.
  • Plan to provide the necessary training to the staff for food safety and hygiene in coordination with the Operations Manager.

6. Coordination and Teamwork

  • Coordinate effectively with the Operations Manager, chef, cooks, helpers, and other concerned staff.
  • Ensure smooth and timely food service.
  • Communicate operational issues, shortages, complaints, and other concerns to the concerned authority.

7. Customer Service

  • Ensure students, staff, and other customers receive timely and courteous service.
  • Listen to and report relevant food/service-related feedback and complaints.
  • Report with option for the feedback and complaints mentioned in the feedback form to the operations manager.
  • Take necessary immediate action within the scope of the position to maintain smooth service.

8. Time Management and Punctuality

  • Manage multiple operational tasks according to their priority and urgency.
  • Ensure all assigned duties are completed within the required timeframe.
  • Maintain punctuality and ensure timely service during meal hours.

9. Equipment and Facility Maintenance

  • Monitor the proper use and condition of canteen equipment and facilities.
  • Report damaged, faulty, or unsafe equipment to the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure canteen facilities are kept clean, organized, and in proper working condition.

Job Specification

    • Minimum Qualification: Grade 12 / +2 pass or equivalent.
    • Experience: 2–3 years of relevant experience in a canteen, cafeteria, food service, restaurant, or similar environment.
