Position: Site Engineer / Field Team Leader
Organization: Chaudhary Foundation
Project: Rasuwa Flood Disaster Relief and Recovery
Duty Station: Nuwakot / Rasuwa District, Nepal
Qualification: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Experience: 3–4 years of relevant experience
Preference: Qualified local candidate
1. Background
- Lead and supervise field-level activities and act as the focal person/team leader for the organization at the site.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily field activities.
- Conduct technical assessments.
- Supervise civil works & ensure quality, safety and specifications.
- Oversee contractors, workers and teams.
- Check measurements, quantities and progress.
- Prepare/verify BOQs, estimates and technical docs.
- Identify issues and provide solutions.
- Maintain site records and documentation.
3. Coordination & Team Leadership
- Act as team leader and focal point at the site.
- Coordinate with local government, communities, contractors and stakeholders.
- Lead field staff and ensure task distribution.
- Communicate progress and challenges to the project team.
- Represent the organization in field meetings and coordination.
4. Required Qualification & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 3–4 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in post-disaster / flood response, rehabilitation or reconstruction is highly preferred.
- Experience in construction supervision, quantity measurement, BOQ preparation and site management.
- Previous experience in remote or challenging field conditions is an advantage.
5. Required Skills & Competencies
- Work independently with minimum supervision.
- Leadership, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of civil construction and site supervision.
- Ability to read drawings and understand BOQs.
- Good reporting and documentation skills.
- MS Word and Excel (AutoCAD is an advantage).
- Work under pressure and in difficult conditions.
- Good communication and community relations.
6. Local Candidate Preference
- Preference for a qualified local candidate with good knowledge of local geography, community, language, construction practices and stakeholders.
7. Reporting
- Report to the Project/Program Coordinator or Senior Engineer and be responsible for effective implementation and coordination at the field level.
