This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape how we tell the UWS story worldwide. You’ll collaborate across countries and time zones to craft compelling reports, digital content, and donor communications that bring our work to life for supporters, funders, and wider audiences.
The Role
We’re looking for a creative, strategic, and experienced Global Communications and Engagement Officer to join our global fundraising and communications team. Based in Kathmandu, Nepal and reporting to the UK-based Communications & Engagement Manager, this role will be a vital connector across countries, helping to shape and deliver powerful, consistent messaging that drives engagement and deepens donor relationships.
You’ll lead the production of high-quality donor reports and stewardship communications, managing timelines, aligning messaging, and coordinating with in-country teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and heart in every piece. Alongside this, you’ll support digital storytelling, manage our global content bank, and contribute to the planning and delivery of impactful social media activity.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Create and manage the delivery of all reports and stewardship pieces for the Global Fundraising team
- Own the global reporting and engagement calendar of activity – collating and coordinating requirements from the Global FR Team, and briefing this effectively to In country Comms Teams.
- Manage challenges and developing solutions to address the needs of the FR Team/donor requirements.
- Manage the coordination of reporting, working collaboratively with In country
- Teams to drive quality assurance of all donor reports and engagement content, ensuring timely, accurate, informative and inspiring delivery aligns with agreed briefs and timeframes. Manage the process if they do not meet the brief.
- Co-create and embed processes between teams to drive efficient ways of working
- Maintain clear communication with the Global Fundraising team around timelines and any changes.
- Create a framework for report feedback and edits to ensure in-country report writers and fundraising are clear on deliverables
- Develop inspiring, accurate and informative reports (film and written) for Madagascar and Myanmar, and pan-country reports.
- Develop audience-led journeys, emails and other collateral based on briefs submitted by the Marcomms and Fundraising teams
- All communications produced should be compelling and consistent with our brand
2. Digital engagement planning and delivery
- Work closely with the Communications and Engagement Manager to strengthen UWS’s social media presence by improving message consistency, audience targeting, and delivery capacity.
- Contribute to the development of the annual plan and KPIS and write, schedule, and publish weekly social media posts across platforms, based on a content plan managed by the Communications and Engagement
- Manager. Ensure messaging is consistent across channels, follows a clear narrative (golden thread), and includes defined calls to action tailored to our target audiences.
- Repurpose blog, film, or donor content into bite-sized social media assets
- Content creation in Canva of social media assets
- Monitor engagement and propose optimisations
3. Develop and Manage a central story bank for UWS
- Identify internal and external documents and information sources that can be used in marketing and communications activities
- To support the development of core stock answers, case studies and materials and manage the central storing and effective sharing of this information with the wider fundraising Team
Identify creative ways to use this content to bring UWS to life
4. Global Marketing, Communications and Fundraising support
- To develop and sustain positive working relationships with a wide range of UWS stakeholders to enable them to effectively participate and contribute to the development of reports and stewardship communications.
- Engage with the MEAL teams to ensure that impact reports are accurate and up-to-date.
- Communicate and promote a positive and inclusive UWS brand, ensuring that all written communications represent our programmes authentically
- Play an active role in participating in the Communications Working Group helping to align global marketing plans with in-country teams
- Support the development of marketing campaigns and awareness-raising activations across key audiences
- Develop fundraising and marketing collateral e.g legacy booklet, pitch decks and proposals, event invites, event support e.g digital auction platforms when required
- Update webpages when required
- Provide support to UWS Germany and UWS Singapore when required.
5. Be an engaged and active member of the wider UWS Team
- To work flexibly as may be required by the needs of the department and carry out any other reasonable duties as required
- Play an active role in the development of our messaging and content that can used across the Fundraising Team
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues in all countries
- Become a champion of HubSpot, supporting the Team with utilising its functionality to support donor comms and marketing
- Support the Programmes Team when needed with internal and external materials
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS
You’re an experienced communicator with a strong track record in storytelling, content creation, and digital engagement. You know how to manage information and deadlines, and you thrive on collaboration with colleagues from different cultures and contexts. You’re confident writing for diverse audiences – from major donors to social media followers – and you bring a keen eye for detail and a heart for mission-driven work.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
ESSENTIAL
- A track record of writing accurate, creative, compelling communications for different audiences
- Digital Marketing knowledge and demonstrable experience of planning, developing and tracking activities
- Managing large volumes of information and creating concise and compelling copy
- Developing systems and processes to manage workflow
- Managing multiple pieces of work and prioritising effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work and influence effectively a diverse range of colleagues, donors and stakeholders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate information in an inspiring, clear and concise manner for different audiences.
- Proficiency in IT packages, CRM, Canva and approaches to remote working
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal English
- Editing film footage to create film clips for collateral and social channels
DESIRABLE
- Knowledge of the global challenges and opportunities impacting the education of young people
- Project management skills
- Working with others remotely.
- Experience of working for an international NGO
- Knowledge of hubspot/mailchimp software
