The Gurkha Welfare Trust Nepal is the field arm of Gurkha Welfare Trust UK, a registered charitable Trust working, particularly for the ex-Gurkha Veterans and their communities across Nepal. It is a charitable institution that was established and registered in the UK in 1969. We are currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and committed individuals for the
following positions:

  •  Safeguarding Assistant based at this Trust’s Headquarters in Tallo Deep, Pokhara.
  • Cluster Pharmacist based at our Area Welfare Centre (AWC) Dharan in Shivadhara, Dharan.

Position: Safeguarding Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

The Safeguarding Assistant (SA) plays a key role in providing guidance, support, and training to caregivers, families, and beneficiaries who may be experiencing vulnerabilities and risks. The SA will work to enhance the overall well-being of beneficiaries by empowering them to overcome obstacles and facilitating access to relevant internal and external resources and services.

Essential and Desirable Criteria:

  • Intermediate-level education with at least 4 years’ experience in social work, safeguarding or a related field; or a bachelor’s degree in social work, Social Sciences, or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in a relevant field.
  •  Strong facilitation, motivation, and leadership skills in community engagement and mobilisation.
  • Physically and mentally fit and willing to travel to remote hills for prolonged periods, with good adaptability to diverse socio-cultural environments.
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, and achieve targets.
  •  Prior experience with I/NGOs in safeguarding work in remote areas of Nepal is highly desirable.
  •  Additional safeguarding training or certification is considered an asset.
  •  Experience working with vulnerable groups, particularly elderly people, is desirable.

Position: Cluster Pharmacist

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Cluster Pharmacist is overall responsible for implementing Pharmacy related Clinical Care and
  • Clinical Governance in his/her Medical Centre in accordance with all GWT (N) SIs, Standards of
  • Medical Service delivery, Quality Standards, Policies and Procedures. The Cluster pharmacist is
    responsible for the Pharmacy Service delivery and management at Key AWC’s, non-Key AWC’s and
  • patrol bases in liaison with Health Care Professionals in the medical centres.

Essential and Desirable Criteria:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in pharmacy with at least 2 years of work experience post qualification.
  • Current unrestricted registration as a Pharmacist with Nepal Pharmacy Council (NPC).
  • Must be computer literate and should have knowledge of Pharmacy Inventory software.
  •  Working knowledge and application of relevant Country legislation governing Pharmacy Service Delivery.
  •  Experience in hospital pharmacy/ community pharmacy post qualification.
  •  Prior Experience working with international organisations will be an advantage.

REMUNERATIONS:

  • Both the Safeguarding Assistant and Cluster Pharmacist positions fall in EG3 in our pay structure, with a basic monthly salary of NPR 72,237. Prevailing salary, or whichever is higher, is applicable for internal candidates transferring level.
  • Additional benefits and entitlements will be provided in line with GWT(N) Standing Instructions. The initial appointment will be for a three-year contract, with the potential for extension subject to organisational requirements and individual performance.
