Duty Station: Biratngar with frequent field visits (70% in project working areas)
Duration: 12 Months with possibility of extension, depending on funding & performance

Position Purpose

The MEAL Associate will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and coordination of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Research, and Learning (MEAL) activities within HEARD Nepal projects in Saptari and other working districts. The position ensures effective data collection, reporting, documentation, and accountability mechanisms, contributing to evidence-based programming and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of project MEAL frameworks and plans.
  • Collect, analyze, and report quantitative and qualitative data from the field.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and timely submission of reports.
  • Maintain project-monitoring databases and support digital data collection tools.
  • Assist in baseline, midline, and endline surveys, assessments, and evaluations.
  • Facilitate accountability mechanisms, including community feedback and response systems.
  • Document success stories, case studies, and lessons learned for reporting and advocacy.
  • Support capacity building of project staff and community stakeholders on MEAL tools.
  • Work closely with program teams, local governments, and partners to ensure effective coordination.
  • Contribute to donor reporting, proposal development, and organizational learning initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Development Studies, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in MEAL roles with NGOs/INGOs.
  • Strong knowledge of monitoring tools, logical frameworks, and indicators.
  • Skills in data collection, analysis, and reporting (Excel, Kobo, SPSS, or similar software).
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) in Nepali and English; knowledge of the local language of Saptari is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within project areas.
