Job Description
Purpose of the Position
The position will focus on enhancing the organization’s visibility, strengthening donor relations, and diversifying the funding base to support organisational sustainability. It will also play a key role in positioning Helvetas Nepal as a thought leader in its thematic areas through strategic communication and engagement.
1. Key Roles and Responsibilities
A. Compliance to Policies, Rules/Regulations and Guidelines
- Adhere to policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation (Code of Conduct; NPR-Nepal; Finance Manual; Security
- Response Guide; Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Guide; Mobbing, Sexual Harassment & Abuse of Authority; Code of Conduct Against Corruption etc.) and other specific policies applicable for organisational and donors’ visibility and communications guidelines.
B. Fundraising & Resource Mobilization
- Support in implementing a fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s strategic plan.
- Develop donor scoping report, maintain donor database and track donor engagement, funding pipelines, and proposal/tender deadlines.
- Identify and research new funding opportunities (bilateral, multilateral, foundations, corporates).
- Collaborate with Helvetas projects to develop potential project ideas.
- Support in preparing high-quality concept notes, and project proposals.
- Maintain project database of Helvetas and develop project profiles.
- Develop and maintain the roster of experts in various thematic areas of Helvetas.
- Develop and manage a donor engagement plan to ensure regular and targeted communication with donors.
C. Communication
- Develop and implement the organization’s communication strategy and communication plan to raise its profile amongst donors, partners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders as well as support in creating Helvetas’ public image and brand,
- Ensure consistency in all aspects of both internal and external communications
- Manage internal and external communications, including websites, newsletters, social media, and media relations.
- Support Projects’ in ensuring communication and visibility requirements of donors and Helvetas
- Produce high-quality communication materials (press releases, success stories, brochures, reports, videos).
- Strengthen branding and visibility of the organization in line with organizational standards.
- Document and disseminate case studies, human-interest stories, and project results to stakeholders.
- Support Helvetas staff in communications skills through training and coaching
- Ensure effective monitoring of communication activities
- Leverage digital analytics to monitor audience engagement, measure reach, and inform communication strategies.
D. Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build network with likeminded organization and prospective partners for bidding.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors.
- Coordinate with program teams to ensure visibility requirements of donors are met.
- Closely work with monitoring and Knowledge Management Teams (Country Office and projects) to source relevant information
for communication. - Coordinate with Information Technology & Digital Systems Coordinator to apply effective Information Technologies while
managing website and social media.
E. Other Responsibilities
- Professionally discharge other tasks as requested by the Line Manager.
- Be proactive in bringing innovations and taking new initiatives into the programme and the organization.
2. Required Qualification and Experience
- Master’s degree in International relations, Communication, Journalism, Development Studies, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, and communication within INGOs, NGOs, or development organizations.
3. Required Competencies
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English and Nepali.
- Expertise in donor reporting and communication, ensuring alignment with donor expectations and organizational standards.
- Demonstrated ability in digital communications, including social media and web content management.
- Multimedia skills such as audio-video editing, graphic design, professional photography/videography, and podcast production are preferable.
- Experience managing organizational brand positioning and reputation management.
- Experience managing organizational brand positioning and reputation management.
- Good understanding of Nepal’s development context and international donor landscape.
- Excellent interpersonal, networking, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strategic thinking and result-oriented approach.

- Strong team player, and a facilitator.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
