Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research, and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara and Programme Coordination Office in Lalitpur. LI-BIRD is anticipating a short-term project from September 2025 to March 2026 (7 months), to be implemented in Karnali, Sudurpaschim and Lumbini Provinces of Nepal. The project aims to support in start-up and delivery of a project being implemented by Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD) by delineating agroecological clusters and value chains, developing agroecology curricula, enhancing capacity of extension workers through trainings, and preparing frameworks for Palika Agroecological Plans (PAPs).

Agrifood System Expert (Level 9) – (1): To be based at Programme Coordination Office, Sanepa, Lalitpur
Job Summary: Reporting to the SPL-Climate Action, the Agrifood system expert will take on the role of Project Coordinator and will be responsible for overall management of the project by providing leadership in planning, coordination, execution, monitoring, documentation and reporting. S/he needs to ensure efficient project management, including staff and budget and foster relationship and coordination with funding agency, stakeholders, including provincial and local governments and other relevant stakeholders at federal, provincial and local levels. S/he needs to engage and work closely with the consultant team to develop Agroecological Cluster Delineation (AECD) and Palika Agroecological Plan (PAP) of selected project Palikas.
Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agroecology, Agroeconomics or related field with five years of relevant experience in design, implementation and monitoring of projects related to sustainable food systems and/or agroecology. Candidates with a demonstrated track record of developing technical guidelines, manuals, Palika agriculture strategy and policy briefs will have an added advantage and are encouraged to apply.
