ANSAB is a civil society organization that has been working for biodiversity conservation and livelihoods improvement across South Asia for three decades. It places community empowerment and economic incentives at the heart of its approach, and has been consistently evolving, consolidating, institutionalizing and advancing the approaches and strategies for the promotion of community-based enterprises and value chains, natural resources management and biodiversity conservation, enabling policy environment and multi-stakeholders.
ANSAB is currently seeking qualified, dynamic and result oriented persons for the following positions for a project entitled “Scaling conservation of Himalayan plants and Fungi through sustainable trade”, funded by the UK Government through Darwin Initiative, to be implemented in ten Himalayan districts of Nepal.

Senior Finance Officer

Duty station: Kathmandu with occasional visit to field offices
Duration: 5 years, with six months’ probation period
Required number: 1

Sr. Finance Officer will be responsible for overall financial management of the project incl. planning, day-to-day operation, monitoring and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and ensure up to date books of accounts, bank and other reconciliation, manage payments and receivables.
  • Maintain and ensure the internal control system for financial integrity in line with ANSAB Nepal polices, systems and procedures;
  • Review and prepare periodic budgets and expenditure forecast in accordance with ANSAB’s policy & procedures, ensure donor financial compliance.
  • Prepare financial statements/reports of projects and timely submission to donors and management;
  • Ensure legal compliance, incl. SWC requirements, Taxation, and donor requirements.
  • Provide financial orientation and capacity building of project staffs and project implementing partners.
  • Support for internal audits, project audits and year end audit.

Qualification and skills:

  • Master degree in relevant field or professional degree (CA, ACCA).
  • At least 3 years of work experience in similar role in development field.
  • Good knowledge on accounting software (e.g. FAMAS) and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, good team player and able to work in diversified team
  • Good understanding and ability to interpret financial procedures and standards and their application
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Nepali
