ANSAB is a civil society organization that has been working for biodiversity conservation and livelihoods improvement across South Asia for three decades. It places community empowerment and economic incentives at the heart of its approach, and has been consistently evolving, consolidating, institutionalizing and advancing the approaches and strategies for the promotion of community-based enterprises and value chains, natural resources management and biodiversity conservation, enabling policy environment and multi-stakeholders.
ANSAB is currently seeking young, energetic and career-oriented field-based candidates for the following positions for USAID Biodiversity (Jal Jangal) project in Chitwan, Nawalparasi East and West, Rupendehi and Kapilbastu districts. The detail of the positions with responsibilities, essential skills and qualifications are as follows:
Forest Technicians/Trainers
Duty station: Nawalparasi and adjoining districts
Duration: Three months
Required numbers: 8
Major roles and responsibilities:
- Identify community forestry user groups (CFUGs) based on the defined criteria for National Forest Stewardship Standard (NFSS) and NTFPs related trainings
- Coordinate with local resource persons and CFUG executive committees to identify the participants and date for the training
- Deliver trainings to identified participants on sustainable forest management in line with NFSS
- Identify CFUGs that have high potentiality of NTFPs
- Deliver trainings on sustainable harvesting and management of NTFPs to CFUG members
- Prepare consolidated training reports
Qualification and skills:
- Minimum B.Sc. in forestry/natural resource management/related field with one year of experience in sustainable forest management including forest mensuration and silvicultural practices
- Practical experience in NTFPs management including harvesting and post harvesting technique
- Experience and expertise in training delivery
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in Nepali
- Ability to plan and prioritize work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Motorbike driving skill with valid driving license
