Position Title: Field Coordinator / Social Mobilizer
Location: Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality, Rasuwa
Project: Enhancing Climate Resilience in Aamachhodingmo (ECRA) Project
Reporting To: Programme Manager
Languages: Fluency in Nepali and English (both spoken and written), Knowledge of local Tamang Language will be an additional benefit.
Salary: 30,000/- per month
Role Overview
The Field Coordinator/Social Mobilizer will play a pivotal role in implementing the field activities of our project. This position involves mobilizing and engaging local communities, particularly those of Tamang ethnicity, and ensuring the effective delivery and documentation of the project’s objectives. The ideal candidate is a local resident, fluent in the Tamang language, with a strong understanding of community dynamics and a passion for social change.
Key Responsibilities
Community Mobilization and Engagement
- Build trust and strong relationships with local communities, particularly with women farmer groups, forest user groups and school students.
- Organize and facilitate community meetings, focus groups, and training sessions.
- Act as a liaison between the project team and the community to ensure effective communication and participation.
Field Coordination
- Oversee the implementation of project activities on the ground as per the project plan.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders, including government bodies, and community leaders, to align activities with local needs and policies.
- Monitor and report on the progress of activities, identifying and addressing any issues or obstacles.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare regular reports on field activities, progress, and community feedback and report to the Programme Manager.
- Collect and document qualitative and quantitative data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
- Develop case studies and success stories from the field to highlight the impact of the project.
- Collaborate with the Documentation Officer to ensure accurate and compelling representation of field activities in various communication channels.
Capacity Building
- Identify training needs within the community and assist in organizing capacity-building activities.
- Support local groups and individuals in developing skills and knowledge relevant to the project’s objectives.
Miscellaneous
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Programme Manager to support the overall success of the project.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Minimum +2 or diploma course. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in community mobilization, field coordination, or a related role particularly on Climate Change or environment related projects..
Previous experience working with Tamang communities or other ethnic minorities is highly desirable.
Language: Fluency in English and Nepali is required; proficiency in Tamang Language is an asset.
