Position: Field Coordinator/Education Officer
Project: Quality Education Enhancement and Livelihood Support Project
Location: Central Office in Gatthaghar with frequent travel to Bethanchok, Kavrepalanchok, Nepal
Type: Full-time, Fixed-term contract
Salary: 43,000/- per month

About the Project:
The Quality Education Enhancement and Livelihood Support Project is dedicated to uplifting the quality of primary education, empowering children, youth, and women, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in Bethanchok. This project encompasses capacity-building for educators, child leadership programs, youth engagement, women’s empowerment, and enhancing organic farming through comprehensive training and support.

Position Summary:
The Field Coordinator/Education Officer will play a pivotal role in implementing and overseeing educational enhancement activities, coordinating field operations, and supporting the capacity development of field staff within the project. This position requires frequent travel to Bethanchok for on-ground implementation and monitoring, as well as strong coordination with the central office in Gatthaghar.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination and Implementation:

  • Implement and manage activities to enhance primary education, including classroom setups, teacher training, and stakeholder workshops in Bethanchok.
  • Support the capacity-building of field staff through training, guidance, and performance monitoring.

Training and Workshops:

  • Facilitate/Support training programs for teachers, ECDC facilitators, and school management committees on various educational themes and best practices.
  • Lead/Support workshops on positive parenting, child rights, digital citizenship, and stakeholder engagement.

Field Operations Management:

  • Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of field staff to ensure effective project implementation in Bethanchok.
  • Regularly visit project sites to monitor the progress and quality of educational activities, and address any operational challenges.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Develop detailed progress reports, activity logs, and evaluation reports on educational activities and field operations.
  • Design and produce Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials or Training Manuals using tools like Canva.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Programme Manager.
  • Manage the project’s social media presence, including content creation, engagement, and updates.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Foster collaboration with parents, teachers, local authorities, and community groups to support project goals.
  • Organize sensitization programs on Child-Friendly Local Governance (CFLG) and other relevant topics.

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to field staff, ensuring effective teamwork and high performance.
  • Mentor and train field staff to enhance their skills in project implementation, community engagement, and reporting.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in educational project implementation, teacher training, or community education programs.
  • Experience in field coordination and staff management in a development or education-focused project.

Skills:

  • Strong skills in developing detailed and analytical project reports.
  • Proficiency in designing educational and promotional materials using tools like Canva.
  • Experience in managing social media for projects or organizations.
  • Comfort with using and training others in educational technologies and digital tools.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work under minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Knowledge of research tools for need assessment, progress tracking or grant writing is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Nepali and English. Knowledge of local languages/dialects in Bethanchok is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to and work effectively in diverse and dynamic environments.
