The vacancy opened is of Emergency Aid Program for Landslides and Flood Victims in Bethanchowk Rural Municipality supporting disaster-affected individuals in Bethanchowk. It provides humanitarian aid, psychosocial counseling, renovated water and sanitation systems, and restored school infrastructure to ensure safety and resilience. For this program, we are searching for:
Psychosocial Counsellor
Education
- Post Graduation Diploma or Masters Degree in Psychology or Counseling, with relevant certifications.
Experience:
- At least 3 years in the non-profit sector or similar settings.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care in contexts like natural disasters, conflicts, or large-scale emergencies.
- Practical experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions, especially for vulnerable populations (children, women, elderly, etc.).
Skills:
- Strong foundation in counseling techniques such as active listening, empathy, and cognitive behavioral strategies.
- Ability to recognize and address trauma symptoms while avoiding re-traumatization.
- Capacity to adapt language, tone, and approach based on cultural norms and individual circumstances.
- Personal ability to manage stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance in emotionally demanding environments.
Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling sessions for affected individuals and groups.
Design and implement strategies for managing anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). - Organize workshops or group discussions to encourage peer support and collective healing within communities along with stress management and coping strategies.
- Collaborate with local organizations to address mental health needs.
- Train community leaders, volunteers, and local staff on basic psychosocial first aid and stress management techniques.
- Monitor and prepare detailed reports on the psychological well-being of beneficiaries to inform project strategies.

Project Duration: 7 months
