PHASE Nepal’s health, education, livelihoods, research and strengthening the concept of independent living for the persons with disabilities projects are currently running across nine districts of Nepal – Mugu, Humla, Bajura, Gorkha, Sindhupalchok. PHASE Nepal is currently looking for suitable candidates for the following position for its community health project:

Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM)

Duty Station: PHASE Nepal project locations in Humla, Mugu and Bajura districts

DELIVERABLE GOALS: MAIN TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Task related to the PHASE health program as deemed appropriate by the line manager, as long as it is within the employees competence-in particular, but not exclusively.
  • Set up and maintain outreach Community Health Unit (CHU) as determined by health program
  • Assist in development of PHASE health program
  • Develop a local health program strategy, with particular emphasis on reproductive health and child health
  • Conduct a baseline survey of the needs of mothers and children in the working area, including and assessment of nutrition status and number of pregnant women
  • Inform local community about services, especially safe motherhood and family planning services
  • Ensure regular availability of family planning, antenatal and immunization services
  • Liaise with local Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) and arrange training sessions with them
  • Provide assessment and simple treatment of common illnesses in the HP and local Community Health Unit in the absence of other staff/government staff, according to available guidelines
  • Refer patients who cannot be treated within the Health Post or to the appropriate service
  • Maintain and replace drug stock, including government supplies, paying special attention to safe storage and expiry date of medicines
  • Arrange for safe and timely transport of medicines and equipment to the project area
  • Maintain hygiene and infection prevention procedures in the Health Post in keeping with PHASE guidelines
  • Keep up to date with government and PHASE guidelines and protocols
  • Prepare timely and comprehensive reports of all activities in both government and PHASE formats as require
  • In cooperation with central office, colleagues and government agencies, prepare a health education and prevention strategy for the working area
  • As required, liaise between project areas and office, and other organizations linked to the health projects.
  • Maintain regular project records in central office and prepare reports as required.
  • Ability to adapt to living and working in a remote location as well as flexibility to be redeployed, as required, to another project areas of PHASE Nepal
  • High degree of motivation to work in the remote areas. Highly honest, reliable and confident and having great learning attitude.

 

JOB REQUIREMENT/ REQUIRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Completion ANM course from a recognized institution and registered in the Nepal Nursing Council.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in community health programs.
  • Good written and spoken Nepali Language
  • SBA training and handled number of delivery cases
  • Ability to adapt to living and working in remote location as well as flexibility to be redeployed to another location as required by the organization.
  • Willingness to learn basic indigenous language to communicate with the local community
  • Ability to stand in front of a group of people from the community and present information.
  • Well motivated, team member able to work alone and/or without supervision.
