Support the growth of Fonepoints’ merchant network by prospecting and onboarding new partners. The Partner Onboarding Officer will build a pipeline of potential merchants, guide them through the contract process, and coordinate the initial setup steps to ensure a smooth handoff to the Customer Success & Offers Management team.
Qualification and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience:
- 2–3+ years in sales, business development, or account management.
- Experience in travel, hospitality, events preferred.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of loyalty programs and merchant partnerships is a plus.
Job Description
A. Prospecting & Outreach:
1. Merchant Identification
- Research, identify, and target potential merchants (restaurants, retail, travel, etc.) that align with Fonepoints’ value proposition.
- Maintain a list of prospective merchants segmented by category or region.
2. Initial Contact & Pitch
- Reach out via calls, emails, or in-person visits to explain Fonepoints’ platform benefits.
- Prepare basic presentations or pitch decks that highlight how merchant participation can drive additional traffic, user engagement, and brand exposure.
3. Lead Qualification
- Assess the merchant’s readiness and suitability (e.g., business size, existing customer base, technology capacity).
B. Onboarding & Contract Coordination
1. Contract Process
- Guide interested merchants through the contract signing process, ensuring all required documents and agreements are completed accurately.
- Work closely with the relevant teams to address any specific terms or compliance questions.
2. Account Setup
- Gather essential merchant details (business profile, branding assets, discount structures) and share them with the Customer Success & Offers teams.
- Support new partners in understanding how points/redemption logic works, clarifying any operational steps.
3. Handover to Customer Success & Offers Management
- Provide a clear summary of each newly signed merchant’s profile, goals, and initial offers.
- Ensure seamless transition so the Customer Success & Offers team can incorporate new partners into the platform’s redemption and promotional strategies.
C. Relationship Building & Collaboration
1. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Communicate frequently with the Central Data Team or Marketing to highlight any special merchant requirements or promotional needs.
- Align with Customer Success & Offers on categories or partner types in high demand (based on redemption trends).
2. Networking & Events
- Attend industry trade shows, local business expos, or relevant networking events to identify and approach potential merchants.
- Maintain a professional presence, representing Fonepoints’ brand and mission effectively.
3. Feedback Collection
- Gather feedback from merchants during the onboarding phase; share insights to refine the onboarding process or adjust pitch materials if needed.
Required Skills
- Sales & Negotiation: Comfortable pitching, handling objections, and finalizing deals with potential partners.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Clear and persuasive in verbal/written messaging; adept at building rapport with diverse merchants.
- Organizational Ability: Skilled at managing multiple leads, follow-ups, and contract steps simultaneously.
- Collaboration: Works seamlessly with internal teams (Legal, Finance, Customer Success, Marketing) for smooth onboarding flows.
- Results-Driven Mindset: Motivated by signing new merchants and meeting (or exceeding) onboarding quotas.
