Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) is a service oriented, scientific, and research-based national non-governmental organization working in the field of environment, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and public health in Nepal since 1990. ENPHO is constantly striving towards sustainable development, demonstration and dissemination of eco-friendly technologies. ENPHO promotes integrated community-based approaches for safe water, sustainable sanitation, improved hygiene behavior, clean air, and safe living environment for creating healthy and environment friendly societies.

USAID Integrated Nutrition will be implemented in various districts across all seven provinces of Nepal. The primary goal of USAID Integrated Nutrition is to improve the nutrition status of women, adolescents, and children in Nepal’s underserved and marginalized communities. ENPHO will lead on WASH across all intermediate results, including the adoption of essential WASH and other healthy environmental actions under IR1 and IR3, WASH in health facilities under IR2 and WASH governance under IR4.

ENPHO hereby invites applications from qualified Nepali citizens for the positions mentioned below.

Capacity Building Officer (WASH) – 1 position (with frequent visits to program districts)

Duty Station: Kathmandu

The Capacity Building Officer (WASH) will develop capacity development plan and training packages to ensure enhanced capacity of consortium partners and local implementing partners staff for the implementation of WASH component of USAID Integrated Nutrition. The Capacity Building Officer (WASH) will also deliver capacity building activities through training, coaching and mentoring support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop capacity building plans and programs including training packages, follow up and support packages on WASH particularly for implementation of nutrition-sensitive WASH program, WASH in school and WASH in health facilities, and PSE on WASH.
  • Closely monitor and assess capacity gaps of the local government, consortium partners and local implementing partners for developing training package and capacity development plans.
  • Deliver and facilitate training to consortium partners and local implementing partners staff to build their capacity for implementation of WASH component of USAID Integrated Nutrition.
  •  Develop appropriate and localized social and behavior change communication tools and approaches.
  •  Provide follow up support, coaching and mentoring support to the consortium partner and local implementing partner’s staff.
  •  Support in the development of behavior change campaign and implementation of the campaign at local
    level.

Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work or related field with three to five years of experience.
  • Proven experience of working in public health and/or WASH sector particularly related to capacity building of WASH stakeholders and professionals.
  • Experience in assessment of capacity gaps, development of capacity development plans and training
    packages.
  •  Knowledge on adopting social behavior change communication tools and approaches for remote and marginalized communities and groups with diverse social and cultural values.
  • High level skills and experience in facilitating training and workshops.
  •  Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and team building skills.
  •  Good oral and writing skills on both English and Nepali.
