Program Overview:
Caritas Nepal is implementing an agro-ecology project aimed at the socio-economic empowerment of marginalized women and children across five districts of Nepal. Implemented through local partner NGOs, cooperatives, and women’s groups, the project receives financial support from Charis Singapore and KZE/MISEREOR, Germany. With agro-ecology as its core approach, the project works to strengthen community capacities, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and enhance the livelihoods and resilience of vulnerable rural populations.
Position Overview:
The Agriculture Officer (AO) is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of agriculture and livelihood-focused projects in coordination with partner NGOs and local stakeholders. It ensures effective delivery of field-level activities, capacity building, and quality reporting. The role also contributes to proposal development, financial tracking, and strengthening community-based institutions. Close coordination with government agencies and project teams is essential to ensure impactful and sustainable outcomes.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (BSc. Ag.)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Agriculture, and livelihood related project implementation, preferably in the NGO/INGO Sectors.
- Knowledge of project planning tools (log frame, indicators, proposal writing). Familiarity with government agriculture systems and coordination mechanisms Proven experience in facilitating training sessions, Specially in women groups mobilization activities.
3. Other Competencies:
- Strong coordination, community engagement and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali, both written and spoken; knowledge of local language is an advantage.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Problem-solving skills in field-level project implementation Good monitoring, reporting, and documentation skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to diverse field conditions.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently in a dynamic and challenging environment.
- Familiarity with local contexts, customs, and cultures in Nawalparashi district is preferred.
- Valid two-wheeler driving license is an advantage.
