Dhulikhel Hospital seeks a Clinical Psychologist for community based research, training any community based works related to patients who are dealing with stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, and other emotional and mental health issues that affect their well-being and quality of life at Research & Development Division and at the Department of Community Programs and Public Health.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Conduct initial assessments of patients’ needs and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide counselling sessions using various evidence-based modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, or solution-focused therapy
  • Neuropsychological assessment for general cognitive functioning, learning disorders and ADHD in adults and children
  • Diagnosing potential disorders and discussing possible methods of treatment with patients
  • Conduct programs in community on educating patients and their families on coping skills, stress management, and self-care strategies
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals, such as physicians, nurses and psychiatrists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of patient information and interventions
  • Conducting scientific studies of behavior patterns and cognitive function in all age group
  • Researching psychological, emotional, behavioral or organizational patterns and identifying issues
  • Researching and writing papers on clinical psychology issues, disorders and treatment outcome
  • Willing to travel in rural communities and work under deadline.

Educational Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with hospital based training

Essential knowledge of diagnosing and treating children, adolescents and adults with a range of mental health including anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, panic disorder, adjustment disorder as well as stress management and grief. Also, experience WV working with patients suffering from non-communicable disease, pain management and with cancer will be given priority.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Knowledge of various psychological theories and interventions (CBT, ACT, PBT, DBT) and their application to all age groups.
  • Proficient in SPSS, STATA, Microsoft office
  • Data collection, analysis, systematic review and research publications.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and rapport-building skills
  • Compassion, empathy, and respect for patients and their confidentiality

Expected Duration of Contract: Fixed Term 12 months
