Role Overview:

The communication Officer required a professional responsible for managing an organization’s internal and external communications. Their primary role is to develop and implement communication strategies to effectively convey the organization’s messages to various stakeholders, including employees, the media, partners, and the public.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Key Activities

  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience.
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization’s activities, products and/or services.
  • Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization.
  • Review existing documentation, perform desk research, and interview subject matter experts to understand the latest trends in international development and, specifically, iDE’s current portfolio of approaches and methodologies.
  • Support and work with the team from fundraising to business development purposes.
  • Oversee content development for the Nepal page on the iDE global website and coordinate with iDE’s global communication team for regular updates.
  • Create and handle various social media platforms in compliance with the guidelines set by iDE’s global headquarters.
  • Preparation of presentations, reports, agenda papers to support high-level meetings.
  • Coordinate with the team to ensure iDE Nepal branding and marking requirements, layout/formatting and editing of the documents, reports and presentations, and ensure the quality and standardization of organizational requirements.
  • Support the project team to prepare periodic and final reports including major accomplishments, lessons learned and challenges.
  • Maintain communication systems through the use of digital applications that enable staff to find finished communications products and quickly grasp the broader content and applicability to their needs. Act as liaison for different media organizations to disseminate iDE Nepal’s project information, outcomes, success stories and best practices.

Requirements

Person Specification

Required Education & Certifications, Experience, and exposure

  • Completion of Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Management or Social Science or a relevant field.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including writing and editing, and an ability to work independently. Very strong English writing skills are critical.
  • 3 years’ professional work experience in communication, public relations or marketing, with experience managing and executing across several media channels in a variety of writing styles from technical writing to fundraising campaigns.
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented. Ability to find insights in technical documents and craft compelling narratives that help others understand complex interactions
  • Very good computer skills, including the use of MS Office, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and Google Apps.
  • Able to travel to project sites in order to collect case studies and success stories.

Essential Skills

Strong writing skills are essential for creating clear, concise, and engaging written content such as press releases, articles, reports, and internal communications. should be able to articulate ideas and information effectively in face-to-face interactions, presentations, meetings, and public speaking engagements. Listening attentively and empathetically is crucial for understanding the needs and concerns of various stakeholders, including employees, partners, and the public, building relationships and establishing rapport with diverse individuals and groups is essential. This includes being approachable, diplomatic, and collaborative in your interactions, should possess the ability to think critically and strategically, aligning communication efforts with the organization’s goals and objectives.

Language proficiency

Advanced in English and Nepali language skills both verbal and written communication skills.
