Association of Medical Doctors of Asia-Nepal (AMDA-Nepal) was established in 1989 and was officially registered in the government office as an NGO in 1990. It is a humanitarian, nonprofit-making, non-political, non-sectarian, social organization working with its mission to promote the health and well-being of the underprivileged and marginalized people under the slogan “Better quality of life for better future”. AMDA Nepal is providing curative and preventive health services through its hospitals and projects in different parts of Nepal. AMDA Nepal also established academic health programs focusing to produce middle-level health professionals, offering various diploma level programs. This initiative reflects a commitment to evolving healthcare education and preparing skilled professionals for the future.

The anticipated USAID Sustainable HIV Epidemic Control Project will deliver relevant and efficient direct service delivery that is effective in surging, scaling, and sustaining HIV services and systems for long-term epidemic control with focus on filling existing HIV prevention, case finding, and treatment gaps, on building long-term sustainability to attain and maintain epidemic control.

This project will be implementing HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support services primarily among the female sex workers and their clients, male sex workers and their clients, men having sex with men, transgender people and people living with HIV and their partners and children in four districts of Koshi Province, namely Ilam, Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari, in close coordination with other partners/sub-partners, National networks of KPs/PLHIV and Community Based Organizations (CBOs).

AMDA-Nepal invites applications for the following positions from qualified Nepalese citizen on/before 18 September 2024 (2081 Ashoj 02) for the anticipated “USAID Sustainable HIV Epidemic Control Project” expected to commence on October 1, 2024 in Koshi province. The anticipated project period is 2 years, to be funded by USAID Nepal.

Community Based Supporter (CBS)

Key Responsibilities

  •  Conduct one-on-one educational contacts and small group educational contacts. Provide education for risk reduction (partner reduction, correct and consistent condom use and use of condom compatible lubricant among MSM, MSW & TG people) HIV testing and STI check-up based on need and on risk assessment followed by community-led testing for HIV.
  •  Identify, reach and engage new, high risk, and hidden/hard-to-reach KPs and providing them with a comprehensive package of HIV services based on their needs and preferences.
  •  Support to promote messages basic HIV and STI related information, treatment literacy, adherence and retention using details strategic communication materials.
  • Conduct follow-up visits and provide risk-reduction education for anyone diagnosed HIV-negative and will provide positive prevention education along with referral and linkages to HIV care & treatment for anyone diagnosed HIV-positive.
  • Promote condoms and provide condom negotiation skills in the community, online outreach and community led testing for HIV.
  •  Support to conduct PGDs, creative events, S&D reduction training, support group meetings and interactions.
  •  Support to develop and pre-testing of social media friendly promotional contents on Undetectable=Untransmittable (U=U), HIV self-testing, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), community-led testing for HIV, and conduct social media campaigns and prepare report.
  • Work closely with HIV Service Officer and Program Specialist.

Duty Station: Koshi province (Itahari, Biratnagar, Birtamod)

Minimum Qualification:

  • Minimum SLC/SEE passed from recognized Institute with minimum 2 years’ experience in PEPFAR supported HIV/AIDS, STI prevention program.

Preferences:

  • Preference will be given for the candidates from KPs and linkages with network of KPs.
  • Knowledge of local languages will be beneficial.
  • Advantage of two wheelers driving license holder.
  •  Female and local candidate from Key populations group will be given priority.
  •  Flexibility of working in off-hours (beyond standard office time) as needed
