About the organization:
CREASION (Center for Research and Sustainable Development Nepal) is a non-profit established in 2005. It promotes sustainability-based development and serves as a center for social innovations, impact-based projects, a learning center for youths, and a medium by which relevant stakeholders are engaged. With its evolving working areas, CREASION aims to address the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. CREASION been an acute supporter of Nepal’s long-term strategy of technological progress, policymaking, and social transformation that will lead to a carbon-neutral, inclusive, and climate-resilient future to attain Net-Zero Emission by 2045. The four core thematic areas of CREASION are Environment and Sustainability, Disaster Risk Reduction, Youth and Volunteerism, and Education and Advocacy.
About the project:
Nepali Yuwa in Climate Action and Green Growth (NYCAGG) project is supported by the European Union to promote the involvement of young Nepali people in green growth, environmental protection, and combating climate change. NYCAGG is a four-year- long project that will be implemented in Madhesh Province, Karnali Province, and Sudurpaschim Province through the consortium partners Youth Innovation Lab (YI-LAB), Restless Development Nepal, CREASION, and CDMS. In 2024, the project will be implemented in Sudurpaschim Province.
NYCAGG focuses on working with young people, and empowering and providing them a platform to aid towards the post-COVID recovery and development process. Furthermore, the activities under Climate Fellowship, Climate Smart Entrepreneurship, Mentee-mentorship, Digital Advocacy, and Youth Sounding Board work towards empowering young people, providing them employment opportunities, generating innovative ideas to address climate and environmental issues, and advocating for policy changes to promote environmental protection.
CREASION invites dynamic and enthusiastic Nepali citizens especially from Sudurpaschim Province to apply for the following position.
Job Description: Working closely with Project Lead and Innovation Coordinator, and in close coordination with the Environment and Sustainability team, CREASION, the Provincial Coordinator will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the field-level implementation of the project activities in Sudurpaschim Province.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Climate Change, Natural Resources, Crisis Management, Development Studies, Business Administration, and other related fields.
- At least two years of experience in project management, entrepreneurship, and concept development.
- Working with youth and young people is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, oral presentation, and good writing.
- Basic knowledge of computer and writing software (Microsoft office, excel).
- Fluency in English and Nepali language, both written and oral.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Ability to develop and maintain coordination and contact with partnered Provincial and Municipal governments.
- Coordinate with young people and guide them accordingly.
- Ability to work in a result-oriented, multi-tasking, and multi-cultural environment of Karnali Province with a strong sense of initiative, discipline, and self-motivation.
- Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of disadvantaged populations (minority groups etc.)
- Attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines, track progress, and work independently and cooperatively with team members.
- Ask for feedback, willingness to learn, and seeks opportunities for personal development.
- Integrity and service-oriented.
- Two-wheeler license is an added advantage.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordination and networking
- Support in the coordination and communication with partnered provincial and municipal governments for the timely and effective implementation of the project activities.
- Support in the coordination with educational institutions such as schools and colleges and youth groups.
2. Programmatic engagement
- Support in carrying baseline study of the project in Karnali Province.
- Carry outreach activities to reach youth interested in startups and starting their own business.
- Support in organizing training and orientation events.
- Support in planning, execution, and expense settlement of the field events.
- Provide logistical support to the youth engaged in the project.
3. Reporting
- Prepare brief project updates and monthly reports.
- Collect and compile learnings, good practices, and case studies from the field.
- Participate in the monthly meeting of the project implementation team.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Carry regular monitoring of the field activities and share the update with the Project Lead and Project Coordinators.
- Ensure the quality of the program outputs
- Facilitate internal/external evaluation as per project requirements
5. Compliance with policies, rules/regulations, and guidelines
- Adhere to CREASION’s organizational policy, procedures, regulations, and guidelines.
- Ensure that the organization and donor’s compliance are met.
6. Other Responsibilities
- Ad-hoc tasks as assigned by Project Lead and Project Coordinators.
- Work in close collaboration with the Environment and Sustainability department of CREASION and support in implementing NYCAGG project activities.
Duration
The contract duration is 10 months estimated to start as early as possible.
