Job title: Data Associate
Reporting to: Data Management Officer and Project Lead
Duty Station: Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur, Nepal, with regular travel to local community pharmacies.
Hours of Work: (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
Tenure: 12 months with possibility of extension
Number of Position: 1

Purpose of the job position: The Data Associate will work under the supervision of the Data Management Officer to support the development, implementation, and management of data systems for research studies. This role will support the research team in achieving high-quality, accurate and reliable results.

Key responsibilities and tasks:

Data Handling and Management

  • Assist in designing and maintaining data acquisition tools for research studies.
  • Help maintain data integrity, accuracy and completeness by performing data-related tasks such as flagging inconsistencies or missing information.
  • Support the verification and cleaning of research data.
  • Help ensure data is collected in line with ethical standards and study guidelines.
  • Assist in applying data validation rules and edit checks within Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems.

Quality Control

  • Conduct routine data audits and follow up with study teams to resolve issues.
  • Generate and update tables and charts of the indicators of interest for routine monitoring purposes.
  • Raise and track data queries in the database for discrepancies, missing information, or inconsistencies in the collected data.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Prepare datasets for analysis through data cleaning and transformation.
  • Collaborate with research team to perform basic statistical analysis
  • Assist in preparing regular and ad-hoc reports.

Documentation and Record Keeping

  • Assist in documentation of data management processes including user access, and query resolution.
  • Assist in preparation of relevant data management documents including data management plans, standard operating procedure and guidelines.

Research Support Activities

  • Extract patient health record data from multiple healthcare providers.
  • Monitor and manage data collected from digital surveillance tools (e.g., ChatSci), if required.
  • Assist enumerators in administering structured questionnaires to patients at different community healthcare providers.

Requirements

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Science, Health Informatics or a related field

Experience:

  • At least 1-year experience in related field

Other requirements:

  • Experience in working on Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems such as REDCap.
  • Experience in working in statistical analytical tools such as SPSS.
  • Experience in working with large health-related datasets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft tools.
