Driver and Logistic Assistant (Female Only)

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Nepal is an international, non-governmental humanitarian and development organization that has been working in Nepal since 1984 focusing on Sustainable Livelihood, Quality Services and Protection and Social Cohesion.

The Lutheran World Federation Nepal invites applications from all potential Nepali candidates for the position of Driver and Logistic Assistant. For the Driver and Logistic Assistant position, we are accepting applications only from Female candidates.

Essential job responsibilities

The specific duties and responsibilities of the Logistic Assistant include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Fulfill the responsibility as a Driver.
  • Drive office vehicles, and provide transportation for the program staff pickup and drop off, documents collection from airport and transport of visitors as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Transport, administration, and logistic support for the LWF Nepal Kathmandu and project field offices.
  • Coordinate with the supervisor to follow up and execute driver planning and scheduling using Outlook Calendar or other means of scheduling as assigned, keep a logbook of all vehicle use and travel.
  • Assist the finance and administration team to deliver purchase orders, payment transfers to the bank and/or suppliers, conduct petty cash purchases for mini expenditure for the office.
  • Register, deliver and distribute mail as needed, both incoming and outgoing.
  • Assist the finance and administration team to obtain quotations and raise procurement requisitions for small value purchases (as required).
  • Collect airline tickets, vouchers and equipment for program and administration teams.
  • Submit entry visa applications for official travel to various Embassies/Consulates and collect visas.
  • Deliver correspondence to government authorities and assist in processing various permits (such as airport pass etc.).
  • Assist in the office asset management, transfers, labelling, and stock taking. Provide relief reception assistance when required.
  • Proactively assist teams and work flexibly across the programs.

Vehicle maintenance

  • Ensure all office vehicles must always be kept in good condition. Conduct weekly vehicle inspection and submit forms to the supervisor. Follow up on safety sticker renewal and registrations.
  • Obtain quotes for minor vehicle maintenance.
  • Determine when and what kind of maintenance the vehicle needs, keep track of general maintenance schedules, especially car tyre condition and report to supervisor for action.
  • Ensure sound running of the vehicles assigned and arrange minor repairs where necessary. Check oil, water and tyres properly and keep the lease vehicles in clean condition, both inside and outside.
  • Update monthly mileage records and provide data to supervisor for monthly operations reporting.

All staff are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and client’s policies, procedures, and values always and in all in- country venues.

  • Conduct themselves both professionally and personally to contribute to the organization’s humanitarian and development mission.
  • Other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor and or Country Director.

Note: The job description is subject to revision as per the requirement of LWF Nepal.

Duration

  • Annual contract. There is a possibility of extension subject to performance and LWF Nepal’s future funding levels.

Minimum qualifications, experience, and skills

  • SEE (10 pass) certificate with 2 years’ experience or 8 class with 5 years’ experience with driving license along with bike.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in INGO or another international donor project.
  • Safe driving record and ability to make safety decisions while driving.
  • Technical and mechanical knowledge of vehicle parts and their operation, including general maintenance skills.
  • Ability to read and write in Nepali language (knowledge of English is preferable).
