Local Initiatives for Biodiversity, Research, and Development (LI-BIRD) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in October 1995 with its Head Office in Pokhara and Programme Coordination Office in Lalitpur. LI-BIRD is committed to capitalizing on local initiatives for sustainable management of renewable natural resources and improving the livelihoods of rural people in Nepal.

‘De-risking the transition to sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural models and safeguarding food production from climate shocks and stress in humanitarian contexts (SAFE)’ project is being implemented by LI-BIRD in Barbardiya Municipality of Bardiya district with funding support from the Novo Nordisk Foundation through DCA Nepal. The project aims at strengthening the evidence-base and exploring concrete models for easing and de-risking the transition to sustainable, climate-resilient agroecology-based food production and protecting local food and market system functionality for enhanced food security and self-reliance in the face of climate shocks and stresses in humanitarian settings.

LI-BIRD invites applications from eligible and qualified Nepali citizens who are committed and have the ability to deliver results with the highest integrity for the following positions:

DRR Officer (Level 7)-1, (SAFE Project, based at Jayanagar, Barbardiya Municipality, Bardiya)

Job Summary: Reporting to Team Leader (TL), the DRR Officer will support field-level implementation of the project, monitoring and documentation. The DRR Officer’s key duties include project planning, implementation and coordination; monitoring and quality control; data management, synthesis and support on report writing; communication, linkages and networking for resource leveraging and scaling up of potential innovations. The DRR Officer should ensure that the project is being implemented as per the project’s overall goal, objectives and outcomes.

Education and Experience: Master’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized university in the field of Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or related field, with 2 years of work experience on Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Flood/Drought Hazard Mapping and analysis and Agromet Advisory.
