Electrical Technician
Job Description
Overall Purpose of the role:
The Electrical Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment within our facility. This role involves performing regular inspections, troubleshooting electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards to maintain uninterrupted service.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems and equipment, including pumps, motors, control panels, and distribution systems.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency of the production process.
- Replace faulty wiring, equipment, and fixtures using appropriate hand tools and power tools.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all electrical installations and maintenance work comply with safety regulations, building codes, and organization standards.
Conduct regular risk assessments and implement safety measures to prevent electrical hazards in the hospital compound.
Maintain detailed records of all electrical maintenance and repair activities.
Troubleshooting:
- Identify and troubleshoot electrical problems using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
Develop and implement solutions for complex electrical issues and provide technical support to other maintenance staff.
Installation and Upgrades:
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and systems.
- Recommend and implement upgrades and improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the electrical systems.
Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to emergency electrical issues to minimize production downtime and ensure safety.
- Coordinate with other departments and external contractors during major repairs or installations.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance logs, service reports, and inventory of electrical supplies.
- Prepare and submit reports on electrical maintenance activities and system performance.

Person Specification:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a Certified training of Electrical from CTEVT level 2.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician or similar role, preferably in a hospital.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, maintenance practices, and safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Proficiency with electrical testing tools and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
