Forum for Rural Welfare and Agricultural Reform for Development (FORWARD Nepal), a non-profit making organization, working on Agriculture and Nutrition sector, based in Chitwan and Kalika Self-reliance Social Center (KSSC-Nepal), a non-profit organization based in Kapilvastu district, Lumbini Province are being jointly implemented the project entitled “Grassroots Civil Society Organizations as Promoters of Improved Food Systems and Equitable Livelihood Opportunities” in the three rural municipalities of Kaplvastu district viz Mayadevi, Yeshodhara and Suddhodhan of Lumbini Province with the financial support from German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)/ Welthungerhilfe (WHH). The objective of the project is to contribute food and nutrition security of targeted households (SDG 2) with a special focus on nutritionally vulnerable groups (Infants, young children, pregnant / breastfeeding women, and adolescent girls).

Enterprise Development Officer (EDO)

Brief job descriptions

The EDO will work under the PC/ Program Lead of project district and close coordination with program/manager/directors, Monitoring and reporting officer and MEAL Manager. S/He will also work closely with the KSSC Nepal. S/He will lead the data collection and management, data analysis, activity tracking, record achievements, impact level story collection, learnings, good practices collection, enterprise development, skill assessment and documentation of the 500 landless individuals and household. S/He will also be responsible for periodic field visits for activity monitoring, business promotion and market linkage. The EDO should have good skills in Excel and data collection software, be willing to work in the community and ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the project.

Required qualification experience and skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in designing/planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the project activities.
  • Ensure timely and quality implementation of the project activities as per Detailed Implementation Plan at the field level.
  • Linkage with technical service provider, technical training assessment and provide feedback for better impact of the enterprise development.
  • Assist communities (trainees) for job placement, enterprise development and income generation activities.
  • Identify, prioritize, and support communities in implementing potential livelihood and entrepreneurship strategies, considering marketing risks that are less sensitive to existing and potential hazards and resilient to markets.
  • Prepare business plans for the selected trades, maintain income tracking for the entrepreneurs, and Organize community-based training, such as entrepreneurship development.
  • In order to successfully carry out duties, the Enterprise Development officer needs to maintain a good coordination and communication with the project team, the community members the local authorities (Municipality and Wards representatives), Cooperatives, job
  • placement agencies, other key stakeholders and agencies working in the area.
  • Support communities and beneficiaries with necessary tools, kits and materials to initiate enterprises as envisioned by the project plan.
  • Work closely with the government officer including the employment officer in the project sites as necessary.
  • Maintain close coordination with project implementing teams in the project sites/district and local government and other relevant stakeholders for the smooth implementation of the project.
  • Communicate regularly with PC and technical officer for the field level activities.
  • Collect field data; compile and analyze as per the requirement.
  • Contribute to develop the monitoring tools and checklists.
  • Support PC in writing monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Collect and support PC in writing result-based case stories.
  • Write the case studies and success stories of the project
  • Support formation of Small Holder Farmer Groups at community, ward and Municipality level
  • Prepare periodic, technical reports of the assigned responsibility submit to the Project Coordinator and share them with other relevant entities such as project steering committee members as and when necessary.
  • S/He should be allocate time (60% – field work and 40% -office work).

Qualification and Experience Required

  • Should have at least bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field having master’s degree would add value.
  • A good overview of good governance, sustainable livelihood, entrepreneurship, Nutrition and Agriculture and an active interest in the workings of civil society networks.
  • Having updated solid knowledge and experience on TVET including Training monitoring, skill testing is must.
  • At least Five years of exclusive experiences in related field.
  • Working with the pro-poor, Madheshi landless community would add value.
  • Strong report writing (computer typing) and communication skills.
  • Should be fluent in Awadhi language
  • Motorbike/vehicle license is desirable.
