About the organization
Center for Research and Sustainable Development Nepal (CREASION) is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 2005. Since it was founded, CREASION has been a leader in environmental protection in Nepal through recycling, research, emergency response, grass-roots and circular economy related interventions. CREASION also houses innovative, impact-based projects as well as a learning center for youth. CREASION’s work is majorly centered around four thematic areas; Environment and Sustainability, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Youth and Volunteerism.
About the project
Green Shift: Circularity of Plastic Waste for Net-Zero Carbon Nepal project is funded by the European Union to promote the circular economy. This is a four year-long project will be implemented in Madhesh Province, Lumbini Province, and Bagmati Province through the lead partner CREASION and consortium partners Restless Development Nepal, and Youth Innovation Lab (YI-LAB). The main goal of this project is to promote circular economy by establishing strong plastic waste collection and recycling mechanism, promote plastic alternative products and engage key stakeholders in policy advocacy.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this position at the CREASION Office in Kathmandu is to maintain financial and administration systems and controls to ensure the efficiency, integrity and transparency of the project’s accounting, financial and administration activities in accordance with national regulations and approved policy and guideline.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Budgeting and Financial Management
- Develop, manage, and oversee project budgets in alignment with policies and donor requirements.
- Perform variance analysis and recommend corrective actions to optimize budget utilization.
- Monitor and report on budget execution to ensure alignment with approved plans.
- Collaborate with program teams to prepare advance requests and ensure proper allocation of funds.
2. Consortium Members Finance Overview
- Verify and consolidate financial reports submitted by consortium members.
- Conduct monthly financial reviews of consortium members to ensure compliance with financial policies.
- Provide guidance and support to consortium members in financial planning, reporting, and audit preparation.
- Monitor timely submission of advance requests and settlements by consortium members.
3. Expenditure Management
- Ensure expenditures are in line with approved budget lines and financial policies.
- Verify supporting documents and ensure timely settlement of expenses.
- Lock Monthly Expenditures by end of the month
4. Reporting
- Review Monthly financial report from the consortium members
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including Budget vs. Expenditure, Bank Reconciliation, and Income Statements.
- Prepare donor-specific financial reports in a timely manner.
- Provide consolidated financial updates to the management and donors as required.
5. Audit Management
- Coordinate and facilitate external audits, ensuring all financial documentation is complete and accurate.
- Develop action plans to address audit findings in collaboration with the team.
6. Cash and Asset Management
- Oversee cash flow management, reconcile balance sheets, and maintain adequate cash reserves.
- Register and track fixed assets, ensuring proper depreciation and coding as per fiscal year requirements.
7. Any other work assigned by the supervisor
Duration
The contract duration is 36 months estimated to start as early as possible.
