Shangri-La Development Association (SDA) is a non-government, not-for-profit organization established by Youths for community development in 2014 A.D. SDA has been making community interventions since the inception of the organization. To date, SDA has conducted Shangri-La Sustainable Local Initiative Project (SSLI, SSLI-I, SSLI-II, SSLI-III, SSLI-IV), School Building Reconstruction and Education Support Project (SBRES), Shangri-La Reconstruction and Development Project (SRDP) and One Time Support Project (OTSP).

All the other projects done were incorporated in such a way that it supports the SSLI project and strengthens the interventions. Shangri-La Sustainable Local Initiative Project 5 (SSLI5) is a three-year project of the Shangri-La Association (SA), Switzerland / Govinda Association (GA), Germany, and SDA. The target project areas are Karnali Higher Secondary School, Anamnagar, Jumla, and Kailash Rural Municipality of Makwanpur district. SSLI targets two villages (Kalikatar and Bharta) of Makwanpur where approx. 1800 Chepang people live in 246 households. Apart from these, 40 deaf children in Jumla are the targeted beneficiaries through Jumla Special Children Project (JSCP). These children come from all over Karnali Region as the school with the support of SDA has the best possible facilities and support.

In response to identified organization needs and requirements, SDA has determined to initiate the recruitment process for the role of finance Trainee. The incumbent will provide assistance to Admin and Finance Officer in adherence to SDA policies and legal mandates as stipulated by Government of Nepal. Concurrently, the trainee will actively engage in familiarizing with financial framework of the organization and gain insights into the finance practices intergral to its operation.

Finance Trainee

Role Purpose:

Under the guidance of Admin and Finance Office (AFO), the Finance Trainee will be responsible for checking compliance, book-keeping, maintenance of financial records, support in advance request and expense settlement and provide logistical support for the team.

Required Number: One

Duty Station: Head Office, Satdobato, Lalitpur with the requirement of 5 days of Field Visits to the Field Office, Makwanpur

Reporting To: Admin and Finance Officer

Roles and Responsibilities:

Financial:

  • Check compliance of the expenses with policy and guidelines.
  • Provide guidance to staffs on advance request and expense settlement.
  • Petty cash payment and maintain petty cash record.
  • Support in medical claim of SDA staffs.
  • Prepare detail of monthly TDS and submit online e-TDS on monthly basis.
  • Support in preparing vouchers, ledger posting, book-keeping and financial reporting.
  • Support AFO in voucher approval by Executive Committee.
  • Support Head Office in procurement and logistic arrangement.
  • Assist AFO in all financial and administrative matters.
  • Fix Assets coding followed by SDA policy and physical verification.

Administrative:

  • Support team to run day-to-day office activities.
  • Ensure that timesheets/attendance are signed off and filed on a monthly basis.
  • Logistic management of the events like trainings, seminars, annual meetings, etc.
  • Record keeping and tracking staff leave.Assignment Period: May, 2024 to March, 2025 with possibility of extension. Once selected, the trainee must mandatorily fulfill the initial contract period.

Terms of Payment:

Finance trainee will be paid on mutual agreement which will be taxable.

Qualification and Skills Required:

Academic Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Bachelor in Business Studies/Business Administration or Related Field
  • Freshers are encouraged to apply.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic financial accounting standard.
  • Computer skills including excel/spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge on Tax Laws of Nepal.
  • Experience on using MIDAS accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Good spoken and written skills in both English and Nepali.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Motivated with a desire to learn and grow together with the organization
