Background:

Food for Life Nepal is a non-profit organization that provides nutritious mid-day meals to over 10,000 children across 26 community schools in Kathmandu, promoting health, education, and child well-being. To sustain and expand this impact, we are seeking an experienced ‘Fundraising Coordinator’ to drive our funding initiatives by securing support from corporate partners, individual donors, government counterparts and I/NGOs.

Purpose of the Position

The fundraising coordinator will lead, develop, and execute strategies to secure funding for Food for Life Nepal’s mid-day meal program. This role will focus on fostering CSR partnerships, building individual donor networks, and establishing long-term relationships with I/NGOs and other institutional funders. The coordinator will work closely with the executive manager to align fundraising goals with organizational strategy and expand Food for Life Nepal’s impact. The fundraising coordinator performs the strategic development function in the organization and drives its fundraising efforts to secure the resources needed to advance the organization’s work. The fundraising coordinator reports to the Executive Manager and performs day-to-day activities to build and maintain sustainable revenue in partnership with major donors (high net worth individuals), foundations, corporate partners, and governments The fundraising coordinator works closely with the management and staff team, finance and administration, communications and other departments to build the organization’s sustainability in terms of funds that will result in sustainable revenue. Specifically, this job function must maintain a close relationship with other job functions to develop and leverage relationships that result in meeting or exceeding target fund raising goals that ensure the organization’s projects and core operations are appropriately and sustainably resourced.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Fundraising and Resource Mobilization

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan targeting CSR initiatives, individual donors, and I/NGOs to meet annual revenue goals.
  • Research, identify, and establish relationships with potential corporate partners, ensuring alignment with their CSR priorities.
  • Create and manage a donor portfolio that includes regular and high-value contributors, I/NGOs, and government agencies.
  • Design and execute fundraising campaigns, events, and digital donation drives tailored to diverse donor bases.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a FFLN major gift and individual donor program.

2. CSR Partnerships and Corporate Engagement

  • Build and nurture partnerships with national and international corporations, creating CSR packages that align with the organization goals and showcase the impact of supporting Food for Life Nepal.
  • Organize and participate in networking events, CSR conferences, and meetings to promote Food for Life Nepal’s cause.
  • Develop and pitch proposals to secure funding, sponsorship, and in-kind donations from corporations and local businesses.

3. Individual Donor Engagement

  • Develop and implement a robust donor engagement strategy, ensuring a unified donor experience from acquisition to retention.
  • Lead digital fundraising campaigns targeting individual donors, including online giving, monthly giving programs, and special event fundraising.
  • Create engaging content and communication materials in close coordination with communication team that tell impactful stories, providing regular updates and success stories to donors.

4. Institutional and I/NGO Funding

  • Identify, engage, and manage relationships with I/NGOs, bilateral and multilateral agencies, foundations, and government programs that align with Food for Life Nepal’s mission.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals and funding applications in close coordination with executive manager to I/NGOs and other institutional funders.
  • Maintain a calendar of grant opportunities and deadlines, ensuring timely submissions and reporting compliance.

5. Communication and Reporting

  • Collaborate with the communications team to create compelling messaging and visuals for various fundraising initiatives.
  • Regularly update donors and stakeholders on project milestones, impact stories, and fund utilization through newsletters, reports, and personalized updates.
  • Track and report on fundraising outcomes, preparing monthly reports share it to the executive manager on progress toward fundraising targets.
  • Monitor and report the progress of the fund development plan.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new fundraising opportunities and tactics in alignment with the organization’s values, strategic priorities, and program work.
  • Provide each individual donor with a report detailing the impact and utilization of funds for every donation received from individuals or organizations.
  • Participate in management and staff team meetings.
  • Identify achievements and challenges by reviewing fundraising reports, submitting agenda items and preparing background information.
  • Celebrate successes and troubleshoot challenges with staff team.
  • Agree to take on assignments or tasks.
  • Follow-up on action items by completing tasks and documenting results.

6. Administrative and Operational Support

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all donor interactions, donations, and funding proposals.
  • Assist finance team members in budgeting and forecasting fundraising projections to align with program needs and expansion plans.
  • Organize and oversee donor appreciation events, site visits, and other donor recognition activities.

7. Required Knowledge and Skills

The Fundraising Coordinator must have knowledge of and experience with:

  • Fundraising management.
  • Special events planning and management.
  • Management of volunteer resources.
  • How a not-for-profit society operates.The Fundraising Coordinator must have advanced skill in:

Technology skills:

  • Internet usage and network navigation.
  • The full Microsoft Office suite with advanced-level Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills

Communication:

  • Exceptional, authentic, and persuasive communicator, orally and in writing.
  • Writing, speaking, listening, presenting.

Problem solving:

  • Troubleshooting, problem/issue identification, analysis.

The Fundraising Coordinator must be:

8. Required Education and Experience

Education

  • A relevant Bachelor degree will be considered an asset. Experience
  • Two (2) years of increasing responsibility in a not-for-profit development role with a demonstrated track record of meeting fundraising goals.
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, and with I/NGOs.
  • Experience with Not-for-profit grant writing and individual giving programs and managing government grants and contracts.

Required Licenses

  • Valid two-wheeler driving license with a clean driving record.
