PHASE Nepal is a non-governmental, organization established in 2006 with a vision to build a self-empowered and self-sustained society where all kinds of discrimination are absent (please visit www.phasenepal.org for more information). PHASE Nepal’s health, education, livelihoods, research and strengthening the concept of independent living projects are currently running across various rural communities in Nepal.

We also implement various research projects in partnership with different universities from the UK and organizations from other Asian and African countries. Around 70 colleagues work with PHASE Nepal as full time staff and hundreds of volunteers help to accomplish our research and implementation activities. PHASE Nepal is currently looking for suitable candidates for the following position:

Fundraising Manager

Duration: Initially for six months with possibility of extension based on the performance.

Duty Station: Bhaktapur (New Thimi) with occasional field visits to project sites.

Salary and Benefits per month (NRs):

As mentioned in the title of this advertisement, this is an excellent long term position for someone with track record, zeal and motivation. This position is designed in such a way that the person has a guaranteed monthly income and has potential to earn more with each successful bid (in this case sky is the limit).

DELIVERABLE GOALS: MAIN TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A) Strategy and Leadership

  • Conceptualize and develop institutional fundraising strategy for PHASE Nepal.
  • Explore current areas of funder focus, funder mapping, and plan fundraising activities.
  • Gather relevant and timely information necessary for grant acquisition; identify grant opportunities and relevant institutional guidance materials.
  • Acquire knowledge database; to ensure information shared between field program and other concerned staff, to capture new opportunities, and to track the ongoing fundraising.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and Program Manager to identify institutional funding capacity gaps and build capacity in the required areas.
  • Review existing fundraising policies and procedures, update or modify where needed, and develop new processes that contribute to the successful fundraising.

B) Program design and proposal writing

  • Develop quality concept notes and tailored funding proposals, liaising with the program, research, and finance departments to develop detailed project proposals & budgets, for submission to institutional/corporate/government funding agencies.
  • Manage overall application processes.
  • Lead and coordinate the proposal development process for PHASE Nepal.

C) Donor Relation and Fundraising

  • Identify potential donors nationally and internationally and conduct research on the prospective donors (through internet, newspapers, magazines, networking etc.).
  • Maintain good working relationship with existing donors, explore new donors and cultivate relation with the potential donors.
  • Explore and identify funding opportunities in the areas of PHASE’s work, targeting wide range of donor groups including institutional donors, corporations, foundations, etc.

D) Coordination and Representation

  • Represent and participate in various strategic meetings and consultations related to fund raising within PHASE’s donors, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Actively engage in various national and international communities of practice to gather new ideas and enhance fundraising capacity.
  • Actively coordinate with other agencies for joint proposals/biddings.
  • Review and negotiate grant agreements
  • Shall be the key point of contact for Institutional Fundraising for PHASE Nepal.
  • To promote the work of PHASE Nepal through presentations, the writing of PR materials, press releases, advertisements and media campaigns.
  • Establish and cultivate close relationships with government/corporates/institutions responding to their requests and updating them about the work of the organization.
  • Gather powerful stories and evidence from the project areas. Develop promotional materials and generate innovative ideas to enhance visibility of PHASE’s work
  • and cultivate donor interest in our work.

E) Documentation and Reporting

  • Ensure project proposals are deposited in a proposal repository drive systematically.
  • Share funding opportunities with the team to ensure timely development and submission of quality proposals.
  • Document and share the best practice, most significant changes, challenges faced, and lesson learned. Contribute senior management in knowledge management and replication of best practice in PHASE Nepal working areas.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/ REQUIRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • At least master’s degree or an equivalent in Public Health or a related discipline from a recognized and reputable university.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fundraising for an NGO, INGO or any other relevant organization.
  • A proven track record of success in building relationships and networks with donor, as well as writing, submitting, and winning funding applications.
  • Track record of leading in developing and submission of proposals (sample proposals, successful project links will be asked to share). If worked as a team member of a bigger proposal development team, will need to illustrate what you contributed, with evidence.
  • Excellent knowledge of the donor environment and current donor/funding trends.
  • A motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic, capable of working independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Essential).
  • Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate with staff at all levels.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Flexible approach to work demand.

Insurance & Benefits:

PHASE Nepal will provide accidental insurance of NRs. 20,00,000/- for employee and medical insurance of NRs. 2,25,000/- that covers the employee and his/her up to 2 dependent family members. Free lunch and tea will be provided while working in the office.
