Job Description:

  • Plan and implement new initiatives to strengthen GEDSI in collaboration with the project team as per GEDSI framework and approaches to address root causes of inequality and exclusion. which contribute to unequal development outcomes in the sector
  • Work closely with GEDSI lead to conduct GEDSI rated assessment/evaluation and prepare action plan accordingly.
  • Coordinate and support for review and update GEDSI action plan and lead for effective implementation of GEDSI action plan
  • Ensure practical GEDSI tools and guidelines/checklist are in place and used by PNGOs, helping PNGOs to increase reach of activities to the most vulnerable beneficiaries and benefit from the project
  • Initiate interventions on men and boys engaging dominant groups), empowerment of MV and strengthening of system/procedure ensuring GEDSI perspective.
  • Carry out field visits to ensure GEDSI sensitivity in activity planning and implementation
  • Conduct field visits to monitor reach to the most vulnerable beneficiaries across programs, and identify blockages
  • Assess the needs of project team concerning GEDSI, discuss it within the project team and plan and provide necessary support.
  • Provide technical inputs in the project related interventions and resources (policies, guidelines and system structure) from GEDSI perspective in alignment with GEDSI framework and policies and guidelines.
  • Review project resource, communication and advocacy materials and ensure GEDSI perspective and report to Project Manager.
  • Work with MEALS to develop and implement effective results measurement system to track Sikai Plus project’s GEDSI sensitive /specific results and outcome
  • Work with MEALS to integrate GEDSI related indicators and targets in the overall project M&E mechanism.
  • Ensure monitoring system collects and reports on gender, disability and caste disaggregated data of the project;
  • Analyze monitoring data and present analysis to Project team assessing progress on reaching the most vulnerable beneficiaries by the project;
  • Review and update GEDSI related quality benchmark of Sikai Plus in collaboration with MEALS
  • Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of GEDSI specific quality benchmark of the project and ensure targets are achieved in practice and monitored
    Use results to make continuous improvements to SIKAI PLUS project.
  • Contribute in collecting information on project activities and outcomes from GEDSI perspectives and ensure in the annual/periodic report well captured GEDSI aspects of the project and report to Project Manager.
  • Orient and train project staff to effectively use and implement WVIN policies, processes, protocols, procedures, guidelines, programming tools and plans related to GEDSI to ensure the project delivers on its objectives to reach the most vulnerable beneficiaries and its targets.
  • Work to capacitate the project team in the implementation GEDSI action plan and achieve GEDSI related QBM
  • Provide regular training, mentoring, coaching and on-going advice to Project team and PNGO staff, to increasingly build the capacity of the team to implement quality GEDSI programming and successfully reach the most marginalized groups through GEDSI twin-track project and report to Project Manager.
  • Assess the need and build capacity of project related groups and committees on conceptual clarity, approach, strategies and tools related to GEDSI.
  • Work for collecting and documenting good practices and case stories (including challenges) on GEDSI related interventions/results and approaches from program implementation.
  • Orient and support project team members what and how to collect information and results/outcomes related to GEDSI.
  • Review project on regular basis and provide inputs from GEDSI perspective including action plan to project team including partners
  • Prepare and contribute in periodical reports of the project to ensure GEDSI related interventions and results of the project
  • Represent WVI Nepal (EFO) in different GEDSI related forums and committee.
  • Support EFO team to review periodic reports through GEDSI lens.
  • Capacity building of team in GEDSI integration, knowledge and understanding.
  • Coordinate and support GEDSI focal persons of PNGO and WIV Nepal (EFO)
  • Support on Disability inclusion in EFO Sponsorship Business activity.

Required Professional Experience/ Education

  • At least 5 years field experience in Project Management, GESI programming or the equivalent in the headquarters of a major NGO (7 + years preferred) for Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Gender, Women Development, Rural Development or in related field.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Previous work in developing GESI & Protection approaches
  • Strong research skills and relevant research experience of at least two years. Experience in leading action learning preferred.
  • Strong team player – must be able to form and lead a number of cross-functional working groups
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to draw commitment from other parts of the organization.
  • Good understanding of different approaches to GESI & Protection mainstreaming, and the requirements these involve.
  • Fluent in Nepali with good written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Driving Licence holder of two-wheeler
  • Travel and/or Work Environment: 50% of the time
  • **This position is based in Rautahat and Fixed Term until end of June 2025
