GENDER AND PROTECTION OFFICER- FLOOD AND LANDSLIDE RESPONSE PROGRAME (INT10736)

Duration: Time Based for emergency response (till March 2025)

Location: Kathmandu with 75% field travel

The Role:

Gender and Protection Officer sits in the program team, managed by the Response Management Lead – Flood Response. The position is fully responsible to manage and lead the gender and protection related activities under flood and landslide response programmes 2024 of Oxfam for proposed districts. The position is expected to support partner organization of Oxfam to implement the gender and protection activities, coordinating with WASH, EFSVL staffs to integrate gender interventions and monitoring and reporting of activities to Response Management Lead.

What we are looking for:

Gender and Protection support flood and landslide response programme. The role response in enhancing capacity to meet minimum standards on gender and protection in humanitarian response programme, so that the gender and protection needs of men, women, boys, girls, people from different ethnicity, caste, marginalized community and people with disability affected by humanitarian crisis can be addressed in recent flood and landslide in Nepal We are looking for someone who have the following experience, knowledge and competencies.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Gender Studies, Social science, Law, sociology, and other related discipline.
  • Hands on programme management experience with at least 3 years’ experience (strategy development, project cycle management, HR and Financial Management, online MIS, and the use of excel),
  • Technical knowledge/experience in Gender, Protection in emergency, gender mainstreaming, women’s right, feminist and right-based programming.
  • Proven track record in achieving objectives.
  • Can effectively influence others and can successfully represent Oxfam in different forum.
  • Is strong in connecting, networking, and linking with different stakeholders.
  • Training, facilitation, coaching and problem-solving skills to build capacity of team and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate interaction between different development practitioners of various levels with strong social skills, managing processes between colleagues, partners, donor, government, and communities.
  • Fluency in written and verbal English and Nepali.

Desirable

Demonstrates ability to identify and implement opportunities for innovation.
An understanding of the socio-economic, political, and ecological conditions of the region
Ability to manage relationships with donors, significant institutions, and senior officials.
