The Opportunity
Abt Associates seeks candidates for several long-term technical component leads for the anticipated USAID Nepal Health Systems Strengthening Activity. The primary purpose of this activity is to strengthen the health system at municipality, provincial, and federal levels, focused on maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), to increase access and equity in health care. Qualified candidates will possess the qualifications listed below. Abt Associates actively seeks out candidates with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Chief of Party and other technical leads to oversee planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of program interventions and outputs.
- Oversee a team of technical specialists to deliver program technical results in a substantial and cost-effective manner
- Coordinate and maintain working relationships with key project stakeholders (host country ministries, local government officials, and private sector partners) to develop public health capacity at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels, improve access to services, and increase the quality of health services.
- Provide leadership and technical oversight to project staff and subcontractors.
- Ensure high quality and timely reporting.
- Ensure that project indicator and programmatic targets and USAID obligations are met.
What We Value
- A master’s (preferred) or bachelor’s degree in public health, health policy, health administration, medicine, nursing, international development, or a related subject area.
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in one or more of the relevant technical areas listed below. Experience in donor-funded projects is preferred.
- Significant experience in key areas listed below; proven ability to achieve program targets, along with good understanding of the federal health system in Nepal
- Strong ability and desire to work collaboratively with the Government of Nepal, local partners and healthcare entities, and the international public health community
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Nepali; English proficiency preferred but not required for most positions
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
