Information Technology Trainee

Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to provide an opportunity to the incumbent to get practical exposure on the various IT related systems & operations to gain practical work experience. The incumbent will closely work with the IT Officer (Contact Supervisor) to learn, understand & develop practical skills used to support the ministry work of WVIN. He/she will also assist IT functional Unit in dealing with the support call requests & providing the necessary support services to staff as & when required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setup new computers (Desktops, Laptops) including installation & configuration of O.S. (Ms Windows), Office Suit (Ms Office) & other necessary software to be used by WVIN staff.
  • Ensure non-discriminatory behavior, integrity and diversity
  • Setup new peripherals like Printers, Scanners, digital Photocopiers etc. on staff’s computers.
  • Setup & configure LAN (both wired & wireless) connectivity & hence Internet connectivity on users’ computers, Smart phones or any other personal productivity tools whenever required.
  • Provide L1 support to end users in terms of IT for various IT systems/tools used either in person or remotely or sometimes by making travel to the problem location if needed.
  • Track issue logged in service management platform and provide initial level support.
  • Escalate logged issue to expert if unable to resolve.
  • Follow up with vendors for repair & maintenance work IT (EDP) equipment’s and ensure these equipment’s are in working condition before delivering them to users.
  • Troubleshoot PCs for both hardware & software problems and Network/Internet connectivity problems on staff’s computers

Required Education, training, license, registration and certification

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (IT, Electronics/Computer Engineering, Computer Science)

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Desktop Operating Systems like Windows 10, Windows 11
  • Knowledge of using MS Office Suit applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • A basic understanding of networking concepts, structured network cabling & network file and print services.
  • A basic understanding of TCP/IP, routing concepts.
