Position Title : Senior Project Assistant (Partnership and CSO Engagement)

Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of National Project Officer (Migration, Business and Human Rights (MBHR) Asia Program), and in close coordination with M&D Head, the successful candidate(s) will assist and support in leading, coordination, programmatic implementation, communication support and assistance for timely start -up of the various phases or components of the MBHR Asia Program in Nepal, including but not limited to Corporate Responsibility in Eliminating Smuggling and Trafficking (CREST) and International Recruitment Integrity System (IRIS) initiatives.
The incumbent(s) will support and assist for the successful implementation of the programmatic activities of the MBHR Asia Program Project (Funded by SIDA and EU) in relation to the meaningful engagement and partnership with government and Civil Society Organization/Migrant’s Community to contribute towards implementation of the United Nation’s Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights: ‘Protect, Respect and Remedy’ Framework
In particular, she/he will carry out the following duties and responsibilities.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Project Implementation and Coordination
- Support the successful planning, partnership, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities related to the MBHR Asia program in Nepal.
- Maintain effective coordination and liaison with Ministries, government stakeholders and CSOs/CBOs for meaningful engagement and partnership to achieve MBHR program objectives.
- Identify issues/areas of improvement with project implementation and report them to project manager in a timely manner with recommendations/solutions.
- Draft project narrative report for donors in coordination with the Project Manager
Networking and Partnership
- Support in mapping and networking of private, public sectors and CSO partners for strengthening the capacity of stakeholders to address issues of force labour/exploitations and human trafficking in the global supply chain.
- Pro-actively support the formation of partnerships with CSO networks, migrant’s community, and private sector for strengthening and streamlining the Protect, Respect, and Remedy workstream of the MBHR Asia program in line with the United Nation’s Guiding Principle on Business and Human Rights
- Support to roll out the ethical recruitment sector specific corridor approach pilot initiative in partnership with selected CSO partners to strengthen migrant’s voice.
- Work closely with project implementing partners, service providers, consultants contracted to provide technical guidance, research, and briefings on migration management issues.
Training
- Support in delivering relevant training in the area of corporate responsibility, ethical recruitment, and modern slavery for various target audience in Nepal, civil society organizations, and government counterparts.
- Monitor training programs effectiveness, success, and periodically report on them. Conduct pre- and post-training surveys and document lessons learned for enhancing the quality of training programs.
Project Development and Research
- Support in the design of relevant research activities under MBHR Programme in relation to labour migration on piloting corridor initiatives
- Draft correspondence, briefing notes, research questionnaires, graphics, statistical tables, project communication materials and other forms of documentation.
- Assist the PM in development of concept notes/ideas/proposals for potential donors/and mission fund raising
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Law, migration studies; development studies with four years of relevant work experience
Experience
- Previous experience in implementing projects related to migration, labour issues including labour migration and or Migrant’s Protection, human rights, or socio-economic development.
- Experience in liaising with partners, including governmental authorities, national/international institutions, NGOs/CBOs in Nepal or in the region.
- Experience in managing and/or conducting quantitative and qualitative research, assessments, surveys and or project management.
- Experience in facilitation and training delivery of large groups, diverse groups, and groups of senior- level executives as well as experience with innovative training, facilitation approaches and training design.
- Experience in working effectively with stakeholders including UN entities, development partners, beneficiaries, and the broader community to advance country or regional objectives.
- Experience with drafting concept note/proposal development.
- Knowledge on donor liaising, coordination, and reporting
- Ability to work under pressure under minimum supervision.
Skills
- Excellent drafting skills;
- Strong coordination, negotiation, mobilizing and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office applications
- Proven ability to conduct research.
- Able to work harmoniously in a multicultural setting, Pro‐active, result oriented, organized, and possess good communication skills.
Languages
Fluency in English and Nepali (oral and written).
Desirable
Working knowledge of other local language is desirable.
