M&E Associate

Location: Kathmandu (with 40% travel to working districts)
Duration: One-year fixed contract with possible extension. The contract would be provided after satisfactory performance in a three-month probation period.
Work Hours: Full-time; 40 hours per week
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented M&E Associate to join our team. The M&E Associate will be responsible for designing data collection forms, ensuring data quality, conducting data analysis, visualising data, and writing evaluation reports. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, proficiency in data management tools, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The M&E Associate will play a critical role in supporting our organisation’s monitoring and evaluation efforts and informing strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Design data collection forms using tools such as Google Forms and Kobo, ensuring they meet project requirements.
- Perform data cleaning and quality assurance procedures to maintain accurate and reliable data.
- Test data collection forms and map collected data to the Performance Management System.
- Visualise data using appropriate tools to facilitate data interpretation and communication.
- Write evaluation and impact reports on key outcome areas.
- Share learnings from MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) data with the Programmes teams to inform strategic priorities for improvement.
- Train programmes team on data collection methodologies and best practices and support the team in resolving data collection queries and building their capacity.
- Engage in internal communications by liaising with field officers and other departments to ensure smooth data flow and collaboration.
- Participate in regular update meetings to provide progress updates and receive feedback.
- Support the M&E lead in design and update of project documents, including those related to project design, implementation, and end-of-project stages.
- Utilise research findings to understand, analyse, and communicate impact to national and internal benchmarks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Statistics, Social Sciences, or Development Studies.
- Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation activities, preferably in the education sector or a similar field.
- Strong proficiency in designing data collection forms using various tools like Google Forms and Kobo toolbox.
- Excellent data cleaning and quality assurance skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in data visualisation tools and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to write evaluation and impact reports on key outcome areas.
- Knowledge of MEAL frameworks and understanding of how data informs decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in using statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS) is desirable.
