Job Description:

MEAL Trainee will work closely with National Office MEAL Team. S/he will provide support to accomplish day to day departmental task.

The role requires working in data and Information management system, feedback handling and support on baseline and evaluation. Further, s/he will establish the secondary data hub in support with MEAL Coordinator and IKM Specialist.

In addition, trainee support in organizing regular meetings, report preparation, departmental administrative task and coordination with inter-department and field offices.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Work closely at the National Office MEAL Team and assist in facilitating WVI-supported Programmes and Projects to manage the project cycle effectively in line with the National Strategy and MEAL departmental goal.
  • Support IKM Specialist as well as team members in regular information monitoring, system updates and other relevant works as per the need of the MEAL unit.
  • Work closely with MEAL Team of the National Office in the testing/development of data collection tools for qualitative and quantitative studies.
  • Support in secondary database management of different thematic areas.
  • Assist in data verification of existing systems like beneficiary recording, activities tracking, feedback handling, routine data quality assurance (RDQA) and M&E recommendation tracking system.
  • Involve in field visit monitoring, along with National office and MEAL team.

Support in research and evidence gathering

Assist managing information that are collected from the program implementation area to produce evidence-based products.
Support the MEAL team to gather and collate evidence on changes and impact on child well-being in the programme implementation area of WVI Nepal.
Support in organizing and documenting the MEAL event like regular meetings, Learning sharing event and annual review meeting with PNGOs.

  • Enhance own management skills and knowledge of development in reference to the ministry and scope of WVI Nepal and its working contexts.
  • Increase own involvement in the works of WVI Nepal.
  • Initiate own learning and development in the WVI Nepal context
  • Keep daily learning records for own reflection and prepare monthly progress reports to share with the immediate team.
  • Prepare an action plan based on the team plans together with supervisors and team members and act accordingly

General Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings as per organizational requirement

Required Education, training, license, registration and certification

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in information management, statistics, or other relevant subject area of Social Sciences.Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of program/project information management
  • Basic understanding of community-led development work
  • Basic understanding of design, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Basic understanding of disaster management-related matters.
  • Basic Knowledge of project/program evaluation along with the development facilitation and data collection from different communities.
  • Good interest on conducting or supporting research
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office computer programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Travel and/or Work Environment

  • Based at National office
  • Willingness to travel to WVI Nepal’s working areas as required.
