Dimensions of the Role:

This traineeship is focused at candidate for a learning opportunity working and supporting the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Department at Plan International Nepal to achieve its departmental goal. S/he will be able to get first hand exposure in working experience in various aspect of the department including monitoring of data collection (virtual/field based) at field level, data cleaning, data entry, documentation, knowledge management, etc.

Description

Purpose of the Internship:

The intern will assist the MERL Specialist based on ROW through the scope of work as described in the following.

Support in MERL Initiatives:

  • Assist MERL Specialist in tools development, information/data collection, basic analysis and report writing.

Assisting in MERL Administration:

  • Assist in data/document management (support in data storage of project evaluations/studies/research in one platform).
  • Assist in required documentation (support in reports of PDM, Quarterly Narrative report, CEA report in guidance of REKM specialist.

Capacity Building of Partner Staff/Social mobilisers:

  • Support Coordinator/Specialist in training Social Mobilizers and enumerators to collect data in app-based surveys – ODK, Kobo etc and MERL SCYP risk assessment orientation.

General Tasks:

  • Support MERL team to carry out its regular functions smoothly. Like with guidance from Data Coordinator- support in tracking data. inconsistencies that are collected through M&E system.
  • Feedback (toll -free number) handling and keeping log records, response of feedback loop close.
  • Support program staff in archiving documents in Data Archiving System.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with staff to follow up on documents, surveys, etc.
  • Translate documents as necessary

Duration of assignment, duty station and expected places of travel:

  • The traineeship will be for a period of 12 months.
  • The intern will be based in Country Office with regular travel to field for data collection for different studies.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Fresh graduates with degree in Public Health, Social Work, Rural Development, Sociology, or other social sciences.
  • IT skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Knowledge on use of analytical system (database system, spreadsheet and/or statistical software) would be an added advantage.
  • Report writing and documentation (ability to write clearly and concisely in English and Nepali).
  • Some understanding of the development sector, its operating and regulatory environment.
  • Some understanding of the socio/political economic and cultural issues of Nepal.
  • Innovative and creative thinking with problem solving skills.
  • Managing work relationships (internal/external), coordination and networking.
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask work when dealing with competing deadlines, sometimes with limited resources.

Reporting:

The trainee will be reporting to MERL Specialist based in Regional Office-West.
