Opportunity Village Nepal (OVN) advocates for the rights of women and children and for their economic and social justice. The focus of its programs continues to be on the abolition of child labor, prevention of human trafficking, promotion of girl child education and empowerment of women through various innovative strategies working closely with the communities they live in.
Under its Project Acting Against Sexual Exploitation, Trafficking of Humans and Atrocity in Nepal ( AASTHA), OVN invites applications for the following position:
Position: Social Mobilization Officer
Location: Bhairahawa
Qualification:
- Bachelor degree with 1 year’s minimum experience or Intermediate passed with 2 years’ experience in field of social work with advocacy and training experience.
- Minimum of two years direct experience of direct service provision with vulnerable and or exploited children, youth, particularly those who have been victimized by trafficking, especially cross border trafficking.
- Knowledge of Crisis intervention and case management.
- Efficiency in using word, excel, PPT together with other MS packages and internet.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited hereby)
- Lead to facilitate community interventions at different levels of the project, in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Project coordinator in accordance to the project’s objectives.
- Lead to conduction of advocacy and awareness campaigns in coordination and collaboration with government and non-government actors in the project areas.
- Identify potential risks to women and children/youth, establish safeguards and conduct on-going risk assessments, both in the project areas and transit home, throughout the duration of the project.
- Record keeping of every clients– assessment form, admission, client history with needy document file, legal file, visit and meeting session report, vocational/ entrepreneurship training assessment, training plan, re-integration plan, follow up plan, behavior/progress report (monthly or quarterly).
- Support to project Coordinator on rescue, repatriation, rehabilitation, and reintegration and referral process in coordination/collaboration with key actors of cross-border anti-human trafficking.
Position: Psychosocial counsellor (Female)
Location: Bhairahawa
Qualification:
- Bachelors with minimum 1 year experience in counselling/social work with having a recognized certification in psycho-social counselling training OR +2 with higher academic course on psycho-social counselling with minimum 1 years’ experience in counselling/social work.
- Minimum of two years’ direct experience of direct service provision with vulnerable and or exploited children youth, particularly those who have been victimized by trafficking, especially, cross border trafficking.
- Knowledge of child and youth participation methodologies and experience of coordinating youth activities.
- Efficiency in using word, excel, PPT together with other MS packages and internet.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali.
- Experience providing written reports, case study/success story and documentation of project activities.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited hereby)
- Conduct individual counselling, crisis management, group counselling, trauma healing session, life skill session to enhance capacity of the beneficiaries, particularly of those at shelter, deliberately and as per need.
- Responsible to facilitate between beneficiaries and their families to access the integration services and to promote the healthy behaviour as well as deliver quality counselling to the clients under discussion with relevant staffs.
- Record keeping of every beneficiary – assessment form, admission, health record file, beneficiaries’ history with needed documentation, counselling, session report, vocational/entrepreneurship training assessment, training plan, re-integration plan, follow up plan, behaviour progress report (monthly and quarterly) etc.
- Carry out assessments in relation to psychosocial situations of the survivors of trafficking and those who are at the risk of the same prior to their admission at transit (safe) home.
- Initiate to create and maintain the women and child friendly environment of safe home and working areas.
- Maintain strict confidentiality as per the guidelines regarding all beneficiaries’ profile and service accessibility.
- Ensure effective operation and management of safe home and facilitate in-house session and other capacity building training/ workshop/event.
- Serve as the key focal point for the safety of women, children and youth involved in the project. This will require developing/following and implementing protection strategies and systems, including child protection policies, minimum standards for care services, codes of conduct and guidelines for staff working on the project.
- Ensure harmonious wellbeing of beneficiaries conducting yoga meditation timely health check-ups as well as providing value education.
- Lead the administrative function of safe home and project whatever and whenever needed.
- Actively listening to client concerns and empathizing with their position and thus accepting without bias the issues raised by beneficiaries.
- Ensure signing of the code of conduct of the safe home by visitors, OVN staff, OVN guest and guardian and educate to follow this in office premises.
- Observe beneficiaries’ daily activity and behaviours and counsel and mentor for re-integration with vocational training and entrepreneurship.
- Ensure for the client’s behavior and health progress and do the timely evaluation with maintaining file of record.
- Manage and functions complain (feedback) mechanism of Safe Home (example suggestion box) and follow regulations and safety standards.
