Partnerships and Governance Advisor in Kathmandu

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Kathmandu, Nepal. The position is paid according to Nepal paygrade.

To lead and further strengthen WHH partnerships engagements policies and procedures thus ensuring success and quality of the different programmes/projects in line with Welthungerhilfe focusing on localization. The person is also the owner of WHH advocacy strategy for Nepal and is responsible for rolling it out as well.

Your responsibilities

  • Identify new, and (re-)assess current partnerships in line with WHH policies and localization agenda.
  • Supporting the localization process of partnerships throughout the WHH Nepal programme including listening to community and
  • partner perspectives to assuring community needs are taken care of including communities’ own contributions.
  • Develop, jointly with partners, position papers, lessons learned, support evidence and testimony gathering for advocacy purpose in Nepal and abroad.
  • Developing and maintaining strategic relationships and networks to government stakeholders, ministries, etc.
  • Own the WHH advocacy strategy on the Right to Food, roll it out with relevant partners.
  • Organize (inter-)national level events related to advocacy topics, i.e. Global Hunger Index (GHI) launch.
  • Support innovative partnerships.
  • Assess capacity strengthening needs around partnerships.
  • Provide respective technical, mentoring, leadership support and backstopping to the project teams, including partners and local government.
  • Attend and represent WHH at relevant meetings, networks, thematic working groups etc. and actively contribute as agreed jointly with the Country Director
  • Provide technical support and advice in proposal development on partnerships and advocacy related issues.
  • Close working relationship with HQ, working on assessment and strategic partnerships topics
  • Decision-making and judgement suited to the local context based on technical and management experience.
  • Accompanying donor, WHH missions from abroad, government officials, and other relevant stakeholders to the field.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Country Director

Your profile

Required qualification and experience:

  • Nepali citizen having master’s degree in international development, social development, or related field.
  • High levels of skills and expertise on partnerships management and governance.
  • At least 5 years of similar experience on civil society capacity strengthening and governance.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience
  • Sound understanding and experience of working on Right to Food and advocating for the same.
  • Knowledge on food security, WASH, nutrition and economic development in various contexts viz. humanitarian, development and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding on gender and social inclusion related issues an asset
  • Excellent in written and spoken English and Nepali languages.
  • Excellent project proposal, theory of change, report writing, case study formulation.
  • Excellent interpersonal listening and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent coordination and facilitation skills
  • Creative, flexible, and pro-active, willingness to learn and to share knowledge.
  • Proven ability to work creatively, innovatively, and effectively with limited direct supervision.
  • Willingness to travel to the field, including overnight stays (village level), remote areas of Nepal.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power point, outlook, MS Teams) and web-based communications systems/ technologies.
