Posiiton: Pharmacist
Job Description
Overall Purpose of the Job
To ensure the efficient operation of the pharmacy by dispensing medications accurately, maintaining inventory, providing patient guidance, and ensuring proper record-keeping in compliance with organisational policies and healthcare standards.
Key Task & Responsibilities
1. Customer Service and Patient Care
- Greet patients and customers in a professional and courteous manner, responding effectively to their queries.
- Provide prescribed medications accurately as per doctors’ instructions.
- Offer clear guidance to patients on dosage, administration, side effects, and precautions related to medications.
- Listen attentively to patient concerns and provide appropriate advice or refer when necessary.
- Maintain respectful communication and positive relationships with patients and ensure a high standard of service.
2. Pharmacy Operations and Inventory Management
- Manage and maintain adequate stock levels of medicines and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and Organisation of medicines for easy identification and accessibility.
- Monitor expiry dates and safely remove outdated, damaged, or expired drugs from inventory.
- Maintain accurate records for controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements.
3. Billing, Records, and Systems Management
- Ensure accurate billing and accounting of pharmacy transactions.
- Maintain patient medication records, including history related to controlled or high-risk drugs.
- Use HMIS or relevant computer systems for billing, stock management, medicine requisitions, and reporting.
- Keep all pharmacy-related documentation updated, accurate, and properly filed.
4. Coordination and Compliance
- Maintain effective coordination and positive working relationships with colleagues and healthcare staff.
- Ensure strict adherence to organisational policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support internal controls and ensure compliance with pharmacy and healthcare regulations.
5. Other Responsibilities
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the reporting manager to support pharmacy operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
- Valid and current pharmacist license/registration.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience (preferably in a hospital setting).
