Okhaldhunga Community Hospital (OCH) is a rural hospital (officially 50 beds), to the east of Kathmandu, one day’s journey by vehicle. It provides a wide range of primary and secondary hospital services to our surrounding communities. There is an associated Community Health Programme. OCH has an excellent educational environment, a non-hierarchical structure, a team-based approach to service provision and has clear, defined values. Its medical team is characterised by emphasis on teamwork, shared learning and continued professional development. This makes it an attractive place to work for a newly qualified specialist, particularly as we are planning for the successful candidate to be working alongside an experienced expatriate surgeon who will provide the role of mentor.

Post-Residency Surgical Fellow
Main Role
In conjunction with other senior doctors, day-to-day responsibility for clinical activities in the hospital, with an emphasis on hospital surgical services.
Qualifications
- Master of Surgery in General Surgery MS (or equivalent) from a recognised university with Nepal Medical Council registration.
Preferred Experience
- Newly graduated MS (general surgery) qualified doctors.
- A willingness to expand and develop one’s own surgical skills practising in a rural location encountering a wide range of surgical conditions.
Grade level 10. Salary and benefits are according to OCH standards.
