Position: Product Development Officer

Position Overview
The position requires strong collaboration with pattern makers, knit programmers, sample masters, and cross-functional teams, ensuring that each design is translated accurately from concept to final product. The officer is also responsible for exploring new yarns, stitches, knit structures, and value additions such as embroidery, intarsia, jacquard, and handwork to consistently elevate the product line.
Beyond design development, the role involves reviewing and refining samples for fit, finishing, and quality, while ensuring adherence to high-end durability, comfort, and luxury benchmarks. The Product Development Officer also supports sales and merchandising teams by providing product knowledge, preparing presentation materials, and showcasing collections to buyers, brands, and internal stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Develop innovative sweater designs in line with brand aesthetics & seasonal collections.
2. Select appropriate yams, trims, and embellishments suitable for premium knitwear
3. Work closely with pattern makers, knit programmers, & sample master to ensure accurate execution.
4. Review & refine sample for fit, finishing, and quality standards.
5. Continuously improve product innovation while maintaining a luxury standard.
6. Develop new knit structures, stitches, and value additions (embroidery, intarsia, jacquard, handwork).
7. Ensure designs meet high-end luxury quality benchmarks in terms of finishing, durability, and comfort.
8. Present collections to buyers, brands, or internal management.
9. Support sales and merchandising teams with product knowledge and presentation material.
10. Liaise with production, merchandising, sourcing, and QC teams for smooth execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Fashion Technology.
- Fresher or 1-2 years of relevant experience in Fashion Technology.
Required Skills
Skills:
1. Must be well-versed in Knitwear construction, yam types, gauges, stitches, and fabric behaviour.
2. Basic understanding of knitting processes and machines (e.g., flatbed, circular knitting, jacquard, intarsia, etc.)
3. Familiarity with knit design and programming software (such as SHIMA SEIKI SDS-ONE APEX or similar systems) is a strong advantage.
4. Ability to interpret technical specifications and apply knitwear knowledge in product development and production.
5. Stay updated on knitwear market trends, new yams, and construction techniques to support development teams.
