FIAN Nepal is a human rights organisation working for the promotion and protection of human right to food in Nepal. We are seeking highly motivated & skilled person for the position of ‘Program Officer’ to join FIAN Nepal for the implementation of “Promoting Right to Food & Food Sovereignty through Agro-ecology Practices in Nepal” project for the period from 2024 to 2027. The Project aims to promote agro-ecological practices to achieve the right to food and food sovereignty. It will also focus on strengthening the capacity of vulnerable communities and raising awareness among stakeholders and collaborators on right to food & food sovereignty.

Program Officer (PO-1): Based in Palika

The position is based in Chingad Rural Municipality of Surkhet District in Karnali Province. PO is overall responsible for the implementation of project related activities in Palika more focusing to supports for promoting agro-ecology practices, identifying existing agro-ecology practices of small-holder farmer groups/communities, institutional development of community groups and their Networks, raising awareness to community groups on right to food & food sovereignty, climate change & its impact on agriculture, documentation of right to food violation cases/issues, governance & planning process, facilitate right to food vulnerable communities to conduct advocacy for claiming right to food and nutrition.

Required Qualifications/ Experiences

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline- social work/sociology, rural development, environment science, agriculture or a related field with at least three years of working experiences in the development sectors focusing on agro-ecology, climate change, human rights, advocacy skill, coordination, collaboration and networking with stakeholders is required. Additionally, knowledge and skills about the program planning, monitoring, reporting and documentation is preferred. Report writing skill both in Nepali and English is mandatory.
