Job Opportunity – Programme Officer (Agriculture & Livelihood)
Forum for Rural Welfare and Agricultural Reform for Development (FORWARD Nepal), a National NGO founded in 1997, working in the fields of Food and Nutrition Security, Livestock and Fisheries, Sustainable Livelihoods, Natural Resource Management, and Climate Change Adaptation/DRR, invites application from interested candidates for the position of Programme Officer (Agriculture & Livelihood) for an upcoming project in Lumbini province. Duties and Key Responsibilities:
The Programme Officer (Agriculture & Livelihood) will be based in Kapilvastu with frequent visits to the project sites and occasional visits to FORWARD Nepal’s head office, Bharatpur, Chitwan. S/he will be responsible for the overall coordination, resource management, administrative management, and reporting of the project activities.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification: Graduate in agriculture with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in a relevant field preferably in the food and nutrition security and livelihood sector or Post-graduate in Agriculture with 5 years of experience in the relevant field.
Experience: Applicants should have the above-mentioned years of working experience in a similar position, preferably with NGO sectors in rural development. The selected candidate will be extensively involved in program identification, planning and formulation, project proposal and other report writing, supervision and monitoring of projects, and organizing meetings and workshops within and outside the organization. Therefore, they must have fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali languages, computer literacy, and demonstrable experience in cross-cultural work.
Job Description:
- Involve in designing/planning programmes, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and reporting of the project activities
- Administration of the project for its effective functioning and management
- Technical capacity-building of staff, participating in community groups as appropriate and implementing activities as described in the project proposals.
- Represent FORWARD Nepal and concerned project funding agency as necessary in Nepal with any relevant stakeholders including local, national and international development partners, and local and provincial authorities on matters related to the project.
- Participate in the project partner’s relevant meetings at the local, provincial, national or regional level in coordination with the management team at FORWARD head office and concerned funding agency, when needed.
- Support FORWARD Head office for project design and proposal development for funding opportunities.
- Undertake travel within Nepal as required in the pursuit of the above tasks.
- Maintain close communication with the concerned project funding agency and FORWARD’s head office for strategic and management support for the project.
- Establish and ensure effective communication, working relationships and work closely with local government at municipalities, rural municipalities and provincial levels for effective implementation.
- Ensure effective working relationships with all other relevant stakeholders in the project districts including local and national government, I/NGOs, and other local partners working in the project districts.
- Project Monitoring and Reporting; Prepare and submit a monthly/annual report of the project to the concerned project line manager funding agency with copying to the Executive Director, FORWARD Nepal.
- Ensure the financial monitoring of the budget as planned in the project work plan.
- Fluency in local languages is desirable.
- A possession of a license for the motorbike/vehicle is an added advantage.
