KOSHISH, National Mental Health Self-Help Organization, established in 2008, is breaking the silence and amplifying voices of persons with mental health condition and psychosocial disability for inclusion of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) within and beyond the health system. We are looking for the following positions:

Project Coordinator

Number of Position: 1
Reports To: Senior Program Manager
Project Location: Nuwakot and Rasuwa (Based in Nuwakot)
Duration: Fulltime

Job Overview:

The Project Coordinator oversees implementation of “Improving the mental health and psychosocial wellbeing of vulnerable communities in Nuwakot and Rasuwa” project. S/he provides overall leadership and supervision in project implementation and quality delivery of results, ensuring donor compliances, monitoring, evaluation, and learning in close collaboration with senior management team, funding agency and the project team. S/he will manage the project team and build their capacity for effective implementation of the project. S/he will develop and maintain effective and authentic collaboration to ensure effective delivery of our project
strategy; and maintain high standards and quality.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management:

  • Lead project implementation as a focal point for the project in the organization.
  •  Supervise development and execution of project implementation plan, monitoring and evaluation process, and knowledge sharing system in line with KOSHISH and funding agencies standards and protocol.
  •  Develop an annual project action plan, detailed implementation plan, and periodic implementation plan in coordination with the project team under the supervision of the ED & Senior Program Manager.
  •  Carry out periodic review, track, and reporting of targets mentioned in project indicators.
  • Support learning dissemination, and documentation of good practice cases.
  • Foster a culture of learning and accountability through inclusive monitoring, evaluation, feedback, and
    learning practices within projects.
  • Work closely with the Finance Unit to ensure that program and financial aspects of project planning, budgeting and implementation go together.
  • Coordinate monitoring / support visits from the central level and partners.
  • Coordinate donor visits or external visits to project.

Coordination, collaboration, and advocacy:

  • Build and maintain collaboration/ partnerships with stakeholders, especially with the disability movement.
  • Advocacy for mainstreaming rights and services and ensuring our work reflects and is responsive to the needs of people with mental healht condition and psychosocial disability.
  • Lobby and advocacy with local and provincial government representatives in coordination with the Central Team under the guidance of the ED and Senior Program Manager.
  • Represent KOSHISH on different platforms with the approval of the ED or Senior Program Manager.
  • Lead as the point of contact and communication of project status to all participants with prior approval of the central office.

Project Team Management:

  •  Lead and supervise project team.
  •  Clearly articulate a compelling vision and direction for the team and inspire and support the team towards achieving the vision of the organization.
  • Build team performance through real-time feedback, support, coaching and mentoring.
  • Facilitate performance management, JD updates, leave plan, monthly plan and timesheet, field visit, etc. of the project team members.
  • Promote a culture of learning and support to identify professional development opportunities or capacity building.
  • Develop strong relationships and ensure a safe work environment among the project staff for the implementation of project activities in a smooth manner.
  • Mentor, supervise and support project officers in engagement with persons with mental health condition in SHGs, peer support groups and promote income generation activities through various interventions including vocational training.
  •  Ensuring monthly review of project team, sharing the updates with the central office.

Documentation, database management and reporting:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans, and reports.
  •  Submit project progress updates to the Senior Program Manager and MEAL unit every month.
  •  Ensure project reporting requirements are met in line with donor requirements, standards, and
    timelines.
  • Ensure and support Documentation and M&E Officer and project officers in development of success stories, good practices, and learning documents and maintaining record and databases of beneficiaries including pictures, and voices from the field.

Safety & Security

  •  Ensure safety & security during project implementation in collaboration with central office.
  • Analyze / identify potential risks and handle any issues that arise.

Safeguarding

  • Accountable for ensuring that all children and adults who are reached by the project are safeguarded to the greatest extent possible.
  •  Responsible for ensuring compliance with all aspects of the organizational Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, abuse and harassment policies and associated standards and procedures in collaboration with central office/ safeguarding focal person.
  • Promote safeguarding among project teams and ensure safeguarding is embedded in all stages of
    project cycle management.
  • Any other task assigned by the organization relevant to your experience and requirements for the projects.

QUALIFICATIONS & ESSENTIAL QUALITIES

  •  Master’s degree in social science, public health, or relevant field,
  •  At least 5 years of proven experience in project management and related field,
  •  Experience in the field of mental health and psychosocial issues, disability rights and advocacy are
    desirable,
  • Flexible approach to work demands,
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and planning skills,
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team,
  • Demonstrated skill in building collaborative relationships with stakeholders,
  • People management and capacity building skills,
  • Proactive, focused and result oriented,
  • Well organized with the ability to work on multiple priorities,
  • Excellent written and spoken Nepali and English,
  • Computers: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Salary: Negotiable as per competence and experience
